Don't Dink And Drance Lyrics
I would like to burn this down.
I would like to see it melt in yellow and observe a cloud of blackness rise.
Watch it rise as it is wrath himself.
Watch it rise.
Crows will flee the scene as if to remind me how long it's been since I have seen a dove.
Melt in yellow as I do.
Exhaustion and mother of tribulation.
Wound by wound.
I torture myself.
Wound by wound, I will perservere.
Whiteness, present yourself, as I know you are the sky and anchor of my being.
What we've known is like cigarettes.
Formaldehyde fingers.

It's talking about destroying all of our sins, praying to God for forgiveness.
"Crows will flee the scene as if to remind me how long it's been since I have seen a dove." This means that he is so accustom to wrong doings, when he catches himself sinning, it is just a reminder of how long it has been since he has done right.
"Whiteness, present yourself, as I know you are the sky and anchor of my being." He is asking God to come to him and save him. He is praying for forgiveness.
This song seems to relate to the great tribulation which is an event referred to in the New Testament of the Bible at Matthew 24:21 ("For then shall be great tribulation..." - King James Version) and other passages. In the futurist view of Christian eschatology, the Tribulation is a relatively short period of time where believers will experience worldwide persecution and be purified and strengthened by it.
"wound by wound, i torture myself, wound by wound" it is said that the believers will be persecuted and martyred.

This seems to relate to the beginning of tribulation. we will watch satan rise and we wont even realize it. He will deceive us and the tribulation will begin. We will forget what the glory of god was like and how we took it all for granted and all of the bad thingsw that are happening will simply remind us of how long we have been living in a plight. after we preserve and keep our faith strong regardless of the threat of death, jesus will come back and present himself to end the 7 years of hellish life.

Yeah, Hughey's definately got this song covered.. but in a nutshell, it seems that this is about conversion? Like, someone who is joining the Christian faith and wants to see change in his life. So, he needs God to bring him past the darkness and "burn down" his past and start over.
I really like hughey and xdownpourx's respective takes, they make sense. that other guy just tried too hard; plus i try to think of this album old-testamenty, so to me, none of that monstrous shpiel even applies. But what the fuck does formaldehyde fingers mean?
