The Bomb

When we saw NYPC recently, the lead singer said that this song was about Einstein and his involvement with the development of the atomic bomb, hence lyrics such as:

"don't speak cause your mind is amazing" "atomic infamy"

etc.

But equally I think, like with all good songs, it does have that alternative meaning that allows it to function as a superb pop song.

I think this song could be about someone that's like a player. He's "The Bomb" and the effect he causes on whoever he/she goes out with is infamous for it hence the "atomic infamy". Plus the lines "who took advantage and who was defenseless" probably talks about the player and now the narrator's saying that "peppermint girl´s not dumb", meaning that the player should watch out.

I had no fucking clue what this song meant. Thank you Danmagnet for explaining it. But that supports my notion that they sometimes just add totally random, nonsensical lyrics to their songs. I don't know much about the life and times of Einstein but I don't remember hearing much about his dancing, "Dancing, you are tearing it up, you know." The song is just dancable and I love that part: "Dan-cing! Dan-cing!" so I don't mind if it makes no sense.

Danmagnet's comment sounds pretty silly. It sounds like some bs explanation that the lead-singer would give someone who'd ask what the song was about instead of trying to figure out themselves. But, is there anything to figure out, or is it some bullshit lyrics for a catchy song? If the song is about relativity and "the bomb" that the song refers to is Einstein, then what the Hell does the rest of the song mean? Einstein doesn't really sound like it would fit.

But, if it was a player, what kind of conning player would just go about "display[ing] information"? Wouldn't a player try to hide information?

I think that the audience of the song is meant to be someone who's effiminate and possibly naive and wear's the emotions on the outside. Meaning, that the subject of this song isn't a player but is maybe the "peppermint girl".

The speaker appears to be pointing out a flaw of the audience. He tells her not to speak, "because [her] mind is amazing". Maybe he's telling her not to speak her mind so much.

But, right before he says, he says "come on take a moment with your enemy." Not long after, you see that it appears that the two had sex. That maybe the speaker had managed to seduce the audience anyways. And, afterwards reminds her who was the defenseless party here.

However, I think the audience, who now becomes the speaker, shoots back with "oh no peppermint girls not done remember this emotional equation don't test the moment when you break the sun" Which means something... I still don't have a clue. And, it seems the adding "dancing you are tearing it up you know" is just help the real people listening to the song get motivated to dance.

But, if you really try to analyze this song (which is probably a waste of your time) you could probably end up going at forever and never come up with an answer. In the end, it really just seems that the band just wrote the words after they already came up with the melody for it. The words were just written so that their dance song would become more danceable.

This song is stupid as shit.

here's how i see it: ("Atoll - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia An atoll is an island of coral that encircles a lagoon partially or completely.") peppermint girls may be refreshing, but the songwriter cautions against "test[ing] the moment" -risking wasting the connection- "when you break [out into] the sun[light]" -are touched by nutritional substance in someone to nourish one rather than make one smell as though he never needed any-.. . have you ever known someone epicly interesting who nonetheless treated people as expendable? that demonstrates profound unfulfilledness. making it onto someone's shore could save the person's heart, if he allowed it to... he has a beautifully skilled brain going to spiritual relational waste at the hands of a heart lacking the perspective to weild it otherwise, at the end of the day. the chick is laughing at him because she has come to see through him[uncertain gender, but 'him' is still grammatically correct].. - has come to see that he supposedly unpretensiously makes "love and peace" only because his attachment issues prevent him from braving their endangerment.. that it is not heroicly but helplessly- ironicly desperately, because he is most likely too cowardly to discover any better. in short, she feels sorry for the aloof womaniser, and is happy to have learned from knowing him and, having moved on to greener pasteurs, is not ashamed to embrace what she learned from being with him before she learned from losing or leaving him.
