Building The Nations Lyrics

I've found the pit to find yourself surrounded.
To the husbands and daughters, brides and sons,
You put a tyrannic terror up on his throne.
He's collecting blood like diamonds from all.
Behind this door we face a war... its claiming more.
Step back and take a look around you because we will...
Destroy! Rebuild! Plant the seeds to reclaim victory!
On this day we will...
Destroy! Rebuild! Plant the seeds to reclaim victory!
Though struggle we'll press on.
Mark my words, you cant find comfort in the arms of constrictors.
Lift back the scabs of content and prepare for change.
The doors swing wide, and we're drawn inside.
The gold stained bones give off the only light.
Oh, I found your prints on a fleshy pulse.
You made the waves to meet my foot
And all the siren songs that ring on and on and on.
I watched your vipers bring down the bishop and bait the chains to leave me hit.
Well I've brought all the archers, we lit all the pyres, and we've come to...
Destroy! Rebuild! Plant the seeds to reclaim victory!
On this day we will...
Destroy! Rebuild! Plant the seeds to reclaim victory!
Through struggle we press on...
We are the army of the far from perfect.
This is the call to tear down and rebuild this world.

I think this song is the culmination of all of Oh, Sleepers songs - notice the references to all the other songs - archers, bishop, vipers, pyres etc...The archers / army far from perfect are christians, the war is life.

Micah (the singer) has the line 'Destroy, Rebuild' tattooed on his arm, I think that line has quite deep significance to him. My interpretation of this line is that its a call for people to destroy the sin in their lives, rebuild their lives centred on Christ and reclaim the victory that he offers through his sacrifice on the cross.

Not trying to disagree, but my take on "destroy, rebuild" is that he's saying one day we will finally recognize all that satan is doing to our world (waves, sirens, vipers, baiting chains, hitting), and we'll destroy and rebuild this world, because "this is the call to tear down and rebuild this world." When an army attacks another country, they burn all the crops and make it impossible for the attackees to provide for themselves. It's a very efficient way to devastate a nation. As christians, we've been under attack, pretty much by our own choices (WE put the tyrannic terror upon the throne) and Oh, Sleeper is tellin us to get off our butts and fight. To stop Sleeping and fix what has been screwed up by satan in this world, due to our own actions and inactions. That's why you have to replant the seeds. To try and cultivate a nation of christians that is growing infertile. I'm not positive about all the stuff with the open door and gold stained bones... But that is where we discover the truth of our nation. So maybe that is the pit that is always talked about in the other songs. Over all; life is a war, and we need to recognize that, stop Sleeping, get up and fight.

I definitely agree w/ theBush. Incorporating all the different songs into one seems to bring out more sense in this take than the others. The way he wrote the whole album is an interesting perception. DESTROY REBUILD makes more sense when you think of it as a cry to the people of this world.

I believe the Destroy/Rebuild is when Jesus destroys the earth after the 7 years are over and then recreates it.

Gotta agree with theBush on this one.

My favorite line is the cruscendo/scream on the part where he says "Well, i've brought all the archers we've lit all the pyre's and...".

That gives me chills.

it might be worth adding thay Jesus fortold the destruction of the temple and that it would be rebuilt in 3 days (representing his death and resurrection).
