"Dark They Were and Golden Eyed " was the name of a well known Sci-Fi/Fantasy bookshop. Long gone. The way this verse is read, specifically the tone of the vocoder always makes me think it's a direct reference to a Blue Oyster Cult song from Cultosaurus Erectus, you know the one.
