Greenwich Time Lyrics

Woke up in a west that’s wild,
Woke up in a sanctioned wayside.
Woke up, psychos screaming, some loiter head dream descending.
Left it up to chance, left it up in the air.
Played it by year and played down both ends of the line.
I will not let the world pass by,
I woke up in the west, Greenwich time.
Bared the glare of cold war trash, put it on the table,
Stained the course leaking, work-a-day degradation.
With the ballot box open, the flowing information,
The temperature warming, and all the cloning and nonchalance.
I will not let the world pass by,
I woke up in the west, Greenwich time.

This song is really great even though the regular version is short. The live one from Stone, Steel, and Bright Lights is a bit longer and Jay adds in a harmonica. I think this song has alot of political meaning, being confused about the world and how to vote, but you know you have to make a decision and it will be important (i will not let the world pass by).

It's tough to tell but he might actually be saying "woke up, psycho screaming..." and its actually some "Loggerhead's dream descending..." not 'loiter head' lol, my mistake.

"Woke up in the west that wild". One day he woke up and saw all these things wrong with the world. The sun sets in the west. The day is almost over, and we still have all these problems(temperature warming, and all the cloning and nonchalance) with the "ballot box open" "I will not let the world pass by" Get out and vote before it is to late.
