Snuff On Digital

Here he's heading towards the city at night with his suicidal thoughts.The urban stars are electric lights illuminating a city at night.

"Ascending slowly with hopes of finding one small moment of clarity I escape the blackness cast upon me." He's heading to the top of the building hoping for something to make sense.

"I still can't see as you bind me, murder me from miles away. I will finish this today for you. Tomorrow means nothing."

This is where the song gets telling. He's pissed at someone. Someone hurt him, and he's going to kill himself as a sort of revenge method.

"Immobile lights will fly tonight. We'll watch them pass together as we part the rising sky. I won't die without you. These breathtaking heights lend sparkling sights but we won't fall forever. Tightly bound we'll chase the ground, I won't die without you."

And now he's falling with this person on his mind.

"Descending quickly with hopes of sharing all the things you've shared with me, I'll chase the digital eye's below me. Through them you'll see as I fall with digital omniscient eyes capturing me one last time for you. Tomorrow you will see. This is a breakthrough. Oh, forget me not. This is my breakthrough. Oh, forget me not. We you see me soaring and the lights are screaming, you'll forget me not."

Cameras are on him. Likely news cameras as he's doing this in public.And he's hoping to give him or her all the pain they gave him by killing himself. He or she will see it the next day on the news. He's hoping they'll never forget him.

I'm surprised no one has commented on this one yet.

I think this is a commentary on the excessive demands of fans for information on him and his every move. (I still can't see as you bind me, murder me from miles away). Without seeing the rest of the lyrics, the sound of the music makes it seem romantic (I won't die without you), but really it seems he is saying even his death will be cataloged on the internet ('snuffed out' in digital), so a fan won't miss a moment (capturing me one last time for you).

By far the best on the album.

I couldn't agree more with laurelinwyntre. I have a long interpretation for this song. He's talking about fans and how they sometimes smother him trying to tell him about their problems and he has to (cut through) the crowds to get where he wants to go."Cutting through just ike champagne petals sprinkled over the blackest sea urban stars will shine, electric, they keep on calling". He doesn't believe that he has much time left on earth "No, everything won't be alright for me tomorrow.Tomorrow may not come" He tries to find some time for himself to think about his life "Ascending slowly with hopes of finding one small moment of clarity I escape the blackness cast upon me." While he's doing this, people continue to take his pictures, which to him, is like being killed "I still can't see as you bind me, murder me from miles away." He decides to end his life "I will finish this today for you.Tomorrow means nothing." In the chorus, I'm guessing that he jumps off a high tower "These breathtaking heights lend sparkling sights but we won't fall forever." People will continue to take pictures of him even while he's ending his life. "Immobile lights will fly tonight." refers to the flash of the cameras. "I won't die without you." his fans will stay with him and watch his death. In the third verse, I think he's describing the fall. "Descending quickly with hopes of sharing all the things you've shared with me", he is sharing the thoughts of suicide that some of his fans once shared with him."I'll chase the digital eye's below me." He is chasing the people while falling, to let them get a taste of what he once suffered from. He ends the song saying that people will never forget him. Classic.

I see this song as being about the subject killing himself. I envision him climbing up the stairs to the roof of a building while trying to find a reason not to kill himself "Ascending slowly with hopes of finding one small moment of clarity I escape the blackness cast upon me. "

And then talking about his plan on jumping, with the one who led him to this decision: "Immobile lights will fly tonight. We'll watch them pass together as we part the rising sky." The immobile lights would be the lights in all the buildings surrounding him in the city. And as he falls, theyll fly by him.

"Tightly bound we'll chase the ground, I won't die without you. Descending quickly with hopes of sharing all the things you've shared with me, I'll chase the digital eye's below me. Through them you'll see as I fall with digital omniscient eyes capturing me one last time for you. Tomorrow you will see. " To me, this is him as he jumps, killing himself and, figuratively, the person who led him to this "tightly bound, we'll chase the ground" - by falling from above down towards the ground. The digital eyes would be cameras, perhaps the news, capturing his fall. "tomorrow you will see When you see me soaring and the lights are screaming, you'll forget me not." This is talking about how the other person will find out in the news and it will be so traumatic that the person won't be able to forget and it will kill a piece of them inside, thereby dying, in a sense, together with the jumper.

"Descending quickly with hopes of sharing all the things you've shared with me" I'm not too sure what i think of this line, but I think it that his suicide is payback, in that, he hopes to cause the 2nd person as much greif as they caused him in leading him to the suicide.

A snuff film, or snuff movie, depicts the actual killing of a human being - a human sacrifice (without the aid of special effects or other trickery)

This is quite possibly inspired in part by the story of making the video for the song Down In It by NIN, in which trent falls off of a building and the camera was attached to an air balloon that escaped and was brought to the police and was thought to be a snuff film.

I think this song is about love and suicide. "I won't die without you" makes that clear, in my eyes. Also "we won't fall forever" so basically, killing themselves together.

beautiful lyrics. my friend said it was about jumping off of a building. it seems pretty evident to me too. 'tomorrow may not come', 'as we part the rising sky' and all the references to stars, great heights, and suicide all point to it. fun song to dance to.
