Q&A
Quay Lyrics
"Don't you walk. Run." she said
We live in a drinking town with a big football problem
Cry out loud, shake it down
I'll be in pieces before night is done
I am calm, yet shattered like a broken windshield
She begs me to fall in love with her
Like it's the first time
But it's never the same
When you glue it back together
You still see the cracks
And I keep on slipping
So wait while I break
Cause I know I can't take much more than this
Sunday's bells ring and hell's on my doorstep, tempting
Don't you reach out to me
Just to hold on to something real
Then she begs me to be in love
Like it's the first time
But it's never the same
When you glue it back together
You still see the cracks
And I keep on slipping
You know it's never the same
When you glue it back together
You still see the cracks
And I keep on slipping
You spit words off the tip of your tongue
But you forget that the ears that you trust
Come back with everything that you said
You wear make-up to cover the fake-up
Soft as concrete, smooth as sandpaper
They come back with everything that you said
With everything that you said
Everything that you said
With everything that you said
You know it's never the same
When you glue it back together
You still see the cracks
And I keep on slipping
And I keep, and I keep slipping
And I keep, and I keep slipping
And I keep slipping
I keep slipping away
We live in a drinking town with a big football problem
Cry out loud, shake it down
I'll be in pieces before night is done
I am calm, yet shattered like a broken windshield
She begs me to fall in love with her
Like it's the first time
When you glue it back together
You still see the cracks
And I keep on slipping

When you glue it back together
You still see the cracks
And I keep on slipping
When you glue it back together
You still see the cracks
And I keep on slipping
But you forget that the ears that you trust

And I keep slipping
I keep slipping away

I think this song is about a relationship where the guy and the girl are trying to get back together after a really bad fight or breakup. The girl wants the guy back, and she wants him to love her just like he did in the beginning of the relationship. You know .. that happy-go-lucky, true fluffy love you feel for someone. But the guy can't because he's been hurt too bad by the fighting. As much as he wants to glue the relationship back together and be happy with the girl, he still remembers all the horrible things the girl said to him during the fight ('you spit words off the tip of your tongue, but you forget that the ears that you trust come back with everything that you said'). And so he just keeps slipping away.
This song totally rings true about how it's so hard to trust someone after a really bad breakup, especially when the breakup was the other person's fault or the other person was really mean during it. Props to NP for an amazing song!
where are these guys from? what does "Quay" mean?
They're from Oahu, Hawaii.
You mean the actual meaning? Quay - a landing place, esp. one of solid masonry, constructed along the edge of a body of water; wharf.
