With an urgent, careful stare
I see panic in those eyes
If I see you lying there
Thinking this was the last time
If you hear a distant sound
And some footsteps by your side
When the world comes crashing down
I will find you if you hide

If you wish it, wish it now
If you wish it, wish it loud
If you want it, say it now
If you want it, say it loud

We all make mistakes
Here's your lifeline
If you want it, I want to
We all make mistakes
Here is a lifeline
If you want it, I want to

There's a field near the dream
I watched it grow with widest eyes
I watched us all reach out and read
For the strength as we touched the sky
If you hear a distant sound
And some footsteps by your side
If you feel like coming round
I will take you for a ride

If you wish it, wish it now
If you wish it, wish it loud
If you want it, say it now
If you want it, say it loud

We all make mistakes
Here's your lifeline
If you want it, I want to
We all make mistakes
Here's your lifeline
If you want it, I want to

(Yeah oh oh oh oh)
(Yeah oh oh oh oh)
(Yeah oh oh oh oh)
(Yeah oh oh oh oh)
(Yeah oh oh oh oh)
(Yeah oh oh oh oh)
(Yeah oh oh oh oh)
(Yeah oh oh oh oh)
(Yeah oh oh oh oh) If you want I want too
(Yeah oh oh oh oh) If you want I want too
(Yeah oh oh oh oh) If you want I want too
(Yeah oh oh oh oh) If you want I want too
(Yeah oh oh oh oh) If you want I want too
(Yeah oh oh oh oh) If you want I want too
(Yeah oh oh oh oh) If you want I want too
(Yeah oh oh oh oh) If you want I want too

Does no one else appreciate the stretch Tom is making with his voice? He's really trying to hit some new notes in this song and i like it. the way he sings that second "wish" and the way he almost whispers "lifeline" are amazing little touches that really make this song.

its a nice song. i totally get it now. about him being there for someone, and no matter what, hell be there for them. And when they want to change thier mind from before, hell accept it, hence 'we all make mistakes, heres your lifeline' i like sirenss.

Another amazing new song.. Holy shit, this album is going to be better than Whisper.. it seems he fixed what was wrong with that album (repetition mostly) and mixed it with a box car sound... truly unreal.

in an attempt to not relate every song tom writes to blink or mark or anything...

i think this song is about two people, one who is angry at the other and doesnt want to have anything to do with him, while the other is telling him that he will always be there for them, by their side when they need him.

In the prechorus and chorus i think he's telling the person that if he wants to work it out then he's willing to and that everyone makes mistakes and you need to work it out and forgive.

seems kinda like the problem between mark and tom doesnt it?....oh...i wasnt supposed to relate it

nonetheless still an absolutly amazing song

wow. one of the best new songs off the new album. it's kind of a reminescent blend of distraction and a little's enough. ha

and to me i think this songs a lot about second chances. its about giving people another chance even when they don't think they deserve it.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
