This song is amazing, best on the album. Seen it live a billion times and it will always excite me! Unreal aussie band:)
i can't believe no one has commented this song, or put up more of british india's lyrics. they are a great band. i think most of their songs are about declans encounters with women (or lack of in some cases.) this song is about sleeping with a total stranger, then wanting more than just a one night stand. he thought that she led him on, because she was wanting more at the time, but then after that night the girl doesn't want anything to do with him, but he still tries to hold onto her, possibly because he's a tad desperate for affection.
Totally agree buddy, British India are such a good band!! The lack of comments is probably due to the fact they're Australian. Not totally sure on the song meaning, but it's really awesome! So excited about seeing them at the Big Day Out!!
This is a great song and a great band. They were awesome live at the BDO and would love to see them again.
I think guillotine means something on the lines of him wanting to die because no one has any love or affection for him, and he tried but to no avail
Here goes a very alternative meaning: "Last night I slept in a strangers bed, last night I slept in a strangers bed I think I'll do it again" is what a (girl) friend tells him, to which he answers... that's fucked up. She then says it was just a one time, but then she ends up doing it again.
The rest of the song fits in a way, as he is saying he is trying to help her, but the friend doesn't really care about him or anything really.
I reckon the guy in it is poor eg. living in 'council flats', govt housing Maybe thats why the girl only wants him for a one night stand?
