Pictures of You Lyrics
This is the clock upon the wall
This is the story of us all
This is the first sound of a newborn child
Before he starts to crawl
This is the war that's never won
This is a soldier and his gun
This is the mother waiting by the phone
Praying for her son
Chorus:
Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Hung upon your wall for the world to see
Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Remind us all of what we used to be
There is a drug that cures it all
Blocked by the governmental wall
We are the scientists inside the lab
Just waiting for the call
This earthquake weather has got me shaking inside
I'm high up and dry
Chorus:
Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Hung upon your wall for the world to see
Pictures of you
[Pictures of you]
Pictures of me
Remind us all of what we used to be
Bridge:
Confess to me
Every secret moment
Every stolen promise you believed
Confess to me
All that lies between us
All that lies between you and me
We are the boxers in the ring
We are the bells that never sing
There is a title we can't win no matter
How hard we might swing
Chorus:
Pictures of you
[Pictures of you]
Pictures of me
Hung upon your wall for the world to see
Pictures of you
{Pictures of you]
Pictures of me
[Of me]
Remind us all of what we could have been

there's different parts. The first part is about a child growing up and going off to a pointless war, the 2nd part is about stem cell research (because the gov. blocked it, even though it will cure millions), and the 3rd part i think it would be about gay marriage (even how hard they fight for it, there's never a title they will receive). and then over all if can be about two people being together in a picture in any situation, leading to a future that never happened.
i think this is definitely what it's about
i think this is definitely what it's about
Okay.. this may take awile... i think this song is about life. This is life.
This is the clock upon the wall - represents time.
This is the story of us all - not matter how much we think we are alone in how we feel, we arnt. Everyone goes through the same emotions during life. Everyone Goes Through LIFE.
This is the first sound of a newborn child Before he starts to crawl- represents new life.
This is the war that's never won This is a soldier and his gun - - represents death.
This is the mother waiting by the phone Praying for her son - fear. hope. grevence.
There is a drug that cures it all Blocked by the governmental wall - i believe this part is about the fact that it the government doesnt care what people have to go through in life. eg; being homeless, dealing with stress about money, going to war ect. if the government wanted to, nay if the World wanted to, it could stop all of this. but people are too greedy.
We are the boxers in the ring - hate resentment.
We are the bells that never sing - waiting.
There is a title we can't win no matter How hard we might swing - knowing that somethings yu just cant win, just cant do..
Confess to me - this whole verse means.. i kno yuve had good times and bad and he wants to kno about them, about you. he knos everyone lies but still is in love. the strongest feeling every, Love.
the chorus is just saying... we take pictures to remember life, to relive it and to show people what we have done. we take photos to kno we had bad times, but also good times too.
our story. I think it is talking about all the good and bad things that have happened and all the changes we have made, and the pictures remind us. The show is the good and the bad, the pain and the happiness.
"We are the boxers in the ring We are the bells that never sing There is a title we can't win no matter How hard we might swing"
We're fighting in an endless war but it is not between me and you, it is war in between ourselves. The choices we make decide the outcome of our fate.
"Pictures of you, Pictures of me, Remind us all of what we could have been."
The pictures are the memories of what we had and what we would have had.
This song to me feels like a person who has waited so long for something/someone and has become accustomed to that waiting feeling. It is the dull feeling of coming so far... but still not getting that desired outcome. Like the hopeless in between, and yet feeling the reminiscent memories.
I could be completely wrong though, so I'd like to hear other opinions/interpretations.
For some reason when I listen to this song, I get the vibe of Nickelback's "Photograph," only deeper. Like this is your life and what's become of it, and all of these moments you have are on camera for everyone to see -- and most of the moments that you capture are not happy ones.
The soldiers part, where the mother is waiting for her son, is about the war. No matter how we try to escape the war, we are still in it. And we look back on older photos and think about how much we've changed, and how some things we would like to be the same again.
Memories are powerful, and many of the memories that we have are painful to remember... I love this song, personally.
I believe that this is a song that generalizes how Life is for all of us.
From verse to verse, respectively:
It goes over how Life has ups and downs.
Then, we all want to be assured that things will be okay and we want answers to questions, but we simply can't do it all on our own.
This is where the bridge tells the listener that we need to work with one another to make it through our lives, for with one another we shall find assurance and answers to our questions.
But the next verse adds that no matter how long and hard we try, we will never have all of our questions answered.
The chorus chimes throughout the song that we are exposed as individuals to the people around us, telling them who we are. From their reactions, we gain perspective and realize how we used to be and how we could have been better.
Thank you for your time.
Huzzah! Laytaz, have a good rest, and a great tomorrow, y'all.
To me, this song is about the inevitable passing of time. It says so in the very first verse: "This is the clock upon the wall."
And I think that the rest of the song is about someone who tried to get around that, the part about the government hiding things, or the bells that will never ring (the time will never pass). And someone who he knew who actually just lived their life while he was stuck in limbo.
"Confess to me Every secret moment Every stolen promise you believed Confess to me All that lies between us All that lies between you and me"
And he was safe because he never believed stolen promises, but now he's wondering if he had just lived his life what it would be like.
A song about regret, in my opinion.
I think this song is about people's lives on an individual scale. There's always going to be opposition in life, whether something good (a drug that cures it all but is blocked by the government) or something bad (war) and it's going to be hard. The best thing we can do is try our best to overcome whatever challenges come to us in our life. Also, the chorus: Pictures of you, Pictures of me, All upon the wall for the world to see. Our choices are apparent to the world, and they form opinions based on our decisions.
Pictures of you, Pictures of me, Remind us all of who we used to be. Decisions remind us of who we used to be and how we changed.
And the last verse with the change: Remind us all of what we could have been. Decisions we make change the course of our life, and when we look back we see all that we could have become.
I don't know, I just heard this song in the last couple of days...I'm getting mixed messages from it.
There's a happy waiting: This is the first sound of a newborn child Before he starts to crawl
But then, it gets contradicted by a hopeless/killing inside/dreadful waiting: This is the war that's never won This is a soldier and his gun This is the mother waiting by the phone Praying for her son
I don't know, I'm taking CONTENTMENT's take on it-but, yeah, I'd really like to see what everybody else has to say.
Perhaps, it's just about waiting and waiting-and how you're happiness or sadness could lie in someone else's hand. There is a drug that cures it all Blocked by the governmental wall We are the scientists inside the lab Just waiting for the call ^ The hope of the world lies in the government's hands...And the lyrics about the mother waiting by the phone, her happiness or sadness all depends on that call.
Pictures of you Pictures of me Hung upon your wall for the world to see Pictures of you Pictures of me Remind us all of what we used to be
Then, your happiness or sadness is granted-and all that waiting is gone...and you're left with the memories, of just what used to be. I don't know, I'm giving a vague description-anybody else have any thoughts on it?
I love the beat of the song (:
i think this song is someone looking through pictures...and they all have a memory and the song tells about the pictures
