Rhthm & Soul Lyrics
Come loosen up
So hung up
Come count them ways to forever
Remember
The winter
Gets cold in ways you always forget
Ah, you know
Mm-a, rhythm and soul
Gets your hands out your back pockets
Boy, let it go
Here comes the man
You saw in Kazan
He just fixing his coat
Oh no, rhythm and soul
Mm, dollars and cents
Ain't no accidents
Not in the name of democracy
Come get there
Come be there
Come let your socks fall down to your shoes
And you know
Rhythm and soul
Gets your ankles moving their sockets
Ooh, there you go
And here comes the man
He followed you from Kazan
He can't leave it alone
Oh no, rhythm and soul
When you take a picture and it falls in your lap, oh no no
Take another picture and you're springing the trap, oh no no
You've been sold
You can't bat this with your eyes
Change your tie
And get wise, get wise
Rhythm and
Tract houses
Square couches
Short legs and
Square shoulders
Pot holders
Egg and soldiers
Y' tank rollers
You all know this
And you know
Ooh, the rhythm and soul
Get your fingers moving their sickets
Tune in Tokyo
You're just the man
The one I saw in Kazan
One of us went for the throat
Oh no, rhythm and
So hung up
Come count them ways to forever
The winter
Gets cold in ways you always forget
Mm-a, rhythm and soul
Gets your hands out your back pockets
Boy, let it go
You saw in Kazan
He just fixing his coat

I'm still puzzling over this song, but I do believe it was intended to be political. Like the rhythm OF souls...how there's souls dropping everywhere, and politicians basically have no souls. There are a lot of war references."...no accidents/not in the name of democracy." Hm.
i can't believe there aren't more comments.
also, songmeanings should let me edit this song now that i've completely redone the lyrics from what someone originally had back in july or whatever. i accidentally mispelled "sockets".
TWO COMMENTS?! this is my favorite from ga ga ga ga ga
Hard to tell, but it seems to me like it's about living in an authoritarian regime, one like Russia (where Kazan is) under Putin that stifles dissent and opposition.
yes yes, i have no idea what this song means. However, it's quite the song and it needs more than just four measly comments. i'm going to give this song some more thought then i'll be back
Ha! I thought he said, "The man you saw in Kazaam", as in Shaq. Had to look it up for that reason. Good song.
Same here! I had to make sure that my ears were fooling me. "The one you saw in Kazaam". You're just a man, Shaq. You are no man of steel. Had to look it up for the same reason. Now that I see the lyrics they are incredibly cryptic. Seems to be a song about someone in Russia with the references to Kazan (not the brilliant film starring Shaq)and winter getting cold in ways you always forget (love that line). Now that I look at the lyrics more I think it's about the fall of communism in Russia with the antagonist...

Now that I look at the lyrics more I think it's about the fall of communism in Russia with the antagonist being something of a KGB agent. The "Rhythm and Soul" of the West is starting to flood in and people are beginning to loosen up a little in terms of culture, notably music (note the references to dancing). But the antagonist can't seem to shake his past as a man (presumably another governement agent) continues to follow him from Kazan. The taking of pictures may be a reference to the spy game. I guess overall the point of the song is that the cold war never really ended, and Russia, while seemingly a free democracy, still carries many of its old ways.
I thought it was about a man pursuing another man at a nightclub or something like that, and the pursuer is kinda uptight at first, he doesn't really want to dance, but the narrator cajoles him into loosening up and being in the moment, and they hit it off. I guess the Kazan part doesn't really fit though...dunno if you would follow a stranger from one city to another just to possibly hook up :P
