Running To The Light Lyrics
Running round the sacred mountain
The rushing stream
Feel the power
In everything
By the water, where the air is clear
Surrender everything
Old hearts grow younger again
They promise bring
The greenest plants are tender
They're full of sap in spring
Empty the places of the mind
Running to the light
Running to the light
Those who stride too far too soon,
Will not hold pace
Only the calm
Will win the race
Through the forest, the sea of mountain pine
Surrender everything
Only those who
Greatness see in little things
Worthy are the simple
They're happy in their ways
Self will wither out of sight
Running to the light
Running to the light
Arise Sol
Soar above the singing river
Go lying down
Into the ground
Quickened by the stream
When all is said and done
The race moves on
Running, running
Running, running
Running, running
Oh running, running
He-ya, He-ya, Hey-hey
He-ya, He-ya, Hey-hey
He-ya, He-ya, Hey-hey
The rushing stream
Feel the power
In everything
By the water, where the air is clear
Surrender everything
They promise bring
The greenest plants are tender
They're full of sap in spring
Empty the places of the mind
Running to the light
Running to the light
Will not hold pace
Only the calm
Will win the race
Through the forest, the sea of mountain pine
Surrender everything
Greatness see in little things
Worthy are the simple
They're happy in their ways
Self will wither out of sight
Running to the light
Running to the light
Soar above the singing river
Go lying down
Into the ground
Quickened by the stream
When all is said and done
The race moves on

To me, this song is about someone at the very moment of dying - they just have to let go, be peaceful, and feel how they are part of everything, and everything is a part of them.
This song always makes me think of someone who was very, very dear to me, and who is no longer with us. Sad, but beautiful!
I agree with diluna25. I think it's about dying. Fantastic song, one I have never grown tired of listening to
It's a classic Runrig song....It is so poignant too. Like the famous Churchill speech We will fight them on the Beaches...All is Old English words I.e Beaches, Landing Craft Etc until the last Line We will never 'Surrender' which is a French word. And the Line 'Surrender everything' appears twice here. I love this song as i can imagine Rory jogging on an early morning in the highlands as the sun rises over the mountains.
This is my funeral song... I've already decided & will not change my mind, it fits me well, it is beautiful x
