This is one of my favorite songs, but it kind of confuses me. I think maybe thease two people were very close and important to one another, whether they were friends, a couple, siblings, whatever, and maybe the first person, who I'm guessing is a guy, hurt the girl, or did something to her that she won't ever forget or forgive, and even though he wants to make it better, he knows that everything he was accused of was correct and couldn't be fixed. Something happened I think that caused them both to end up dead. I think the girl died with sadness and pain in her heart still because her and the guy never fixed the problem that occured between them and the guy died feeling guilty because he wasn't able to express to the girl that he was sorry and that he loved her.
That's just the impression I get from the song, and I'm probably wrong, but that's what I think.
