Leave Lyrics
'I can't wait forever' is all that you said
Before you stood up
But you won't disappoint me
I can do that myself
But I'm glad that you've come
Now if you don't mind
Leave, leave
Free yourself at the same time, leave
Leave, I don't understand
You've already gone
I hope you feel better now that it's out
What took you so long?
And the truth has a habit
Of falling out of your mouth
But now that it's come
If you don't mind
Leave, leave
Please yourself at the same time, leave
Leave, let go of my hand
You've said what you've came to
Now
Leave, leave
Let go of my hand
You've said what you've had to now
Leave, leave, oh leave
Let go of my hand
You've said what you had to now
Leave, Leave
La da da..ohh..
Before you stood up
But you won't disappoint me
I can do that myself
But I'm glad that you've come
Now if you don't mind
Leave, leave
Free yourself at the same time, leave
Leave, I don't understand
You've already gone
What took you so long?
And the truth has a habit
Of falling out of your mouth
But now that it's come
If you don't mind
Leave, leave
Please yourself at the same time, leave
Leave, let go of my hand
You've said what you've came to
Now
Let go of my hand
You've said what you've had to now
Leave, leave, oh leave
Let go of my hand
You've said what you had to now
Leave, Leave
La da da..ohh..

I actually think this song is really about after she leaves. What he's singing about now is how she hasn't left his mind yet. In the first verse it deals a lot in the past tense, showing how it could have possibly have happened a while ago. What he is telling to leave is his memory of her, because no matter how far away she is, she is always on his mind. He wants her out of his head so he tells her to leave. If you look at it that way, the outbursts of emotion toward the end are completely justified and really makes you feel his pain. I think that initially telling someone to leave could not cause that kind of emotion so I believe its his way to cope with the memory of her.
This. Song. Is. Amazing.
An old Glen Hansard song that deals with someone, at last, facing up to the problems in a relationship and just saying "Just leave..." instead of dodging the issue.
collaborated w/ damien rice on this song...
Great song. The lyrics aren't Hansard's best, and the vocals get way too over-the-top toward the end, but it's got a little certain something.
I disagree with raffish.
I think the vocals are incredible. they are so raw, and you can tell he means everything he sings.
I love this song. I love the soundtrack to 'once' in its entirety. I don't know if this song was on any albums before that, I feel ignorant not knowing though.
These lyrics are so simple yet they completely sum up what needs to be said. and as heartshotsupernova said, the feeling in his voice is amazing, makes you feel just what hes feeling. the pain!! when you know that its over and it has been for a while yet its still so hard to tell someone to leave.
So pure and raw!!!
Leave, make the memory of her leave, she is already gone, her memory still resides, but that memory just causes pain, so he is saying it to the memory, the part of her that remains with him to leave, go away.
