Take Me to the Riot Lyrics
Grey skies and light fading
Headlamps making patterns on the wall
Uptown it’s dead now but
Out here no one seems to care at all
Slick girls and sick boys and
Each one lining up to take him home
They hold tight, their coin and
They pray no one has to see them fall
I’m there yeah, I serve them
The one with the empty looking eyes
Come closer, you’ll see me
The face that is used to telling lies
Saturday nights in neon lights
Sunday in the cell
Pills enough to make me feel ill
Cash enough to make me well
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me
You sprung me, I’m grateful
I love when you tell me not to speak
I owe you, but I know you
You’ll have me back but it’s gonna take a week
What now kid? Which way love?
Will we ever make up and be friends
Good news is, my shoes is
Lined with all my nickels and my tens
Let’s do that, just feed me
I hate when I have to get to sleep
You despise me and I love you
It’s not much but it’s just enough to keep
Saturday nights in neon lights
Sunday in the cell
Pills enough to make me feel ill
Cash enough to make me well
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me, take me to the riot
And let me stay
And let me stay
Let me stay, let me
Let me stay
Headlamps making patterns on the wall
Uptown it’s dead now but
Out here no one seems to care at all
Each one lining up to take him home
They hold tight, their coin and
They pray no one has to see them fall
The one with the empty looking eyes
Come closer, you’ll see me
The face that is used to telling lies
Sunday in the cell
Pills enough to make me feel ill
Cash enough to make me well
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me
I love when you tell me not to speak
I owe you, but I know you
You’ll have me back but it’s gonna take a week
Will we ever make up and be friends
Good news is, my shoes is
Lined with all my nickels and my tens
I hate when I have to get to sleep
You despise me and I love you
It’s not much but it’s just enough to keep
Sunday in the cell
Pills enough to make me feel ill
Cash enough to make me well
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me, take me to the riot
Take me, take me to the riot
And let me stay
Let me stay, let me
Let me stay

I am fairly certain that this song is about a drug dealer, after watching the music video. the verse: "Slick girls and sick boys and Each one lining up to take him home They hold tight, their coin and They pray no one has to see them fall" Im pretty sure is reference to people lining up to get some drugs. If it was about prostitution, there probably would not be the uses of the words Boys and Girls. I think the meaning of the Boys and Girls is to emphasize the fact that the youth are on drugs. The drug dealer theory also makes sense of the phrase "They pray no one has to see them fall"
the next verse: "Saturday nights in neon lights Sunday in the cell Pills enough to make me feel ill Cash enough to make me well"
Makes perfect sense if he is a drug dealer, most likely E, with the reference to the neon lights and the pills enough to make me feel ill, cash enough to make me well. but with this, i still dont understand the take me to the riot. Any other oppinions on this?
what does "take me to the riot" means though? im thinking its like "take me to where the action is" but i might be wrong
i noticed some problems with the lyrics. I have recently purchased the CD.
The lines are Each one lining up to take IT home AND NOT Each one lining up to take HIM home
as well as Let’s do THEM, just feed me NOT Let's do that, just feed me.
Thought i'd let you know. that also supports the drug theory.
I'm absolutely in love with this song. Though I'm hearing the lyrics a bit different and would like to propose some corrections.
First verse: "Uptown it’s dead now but Out here no one seems to care at all"
Second verse: "Slick girls and sick boys And each one lining up to take him home"
Chorus: "Saturday night in neon lights Sunday in the cell Pills enough to make me feel ill Cash enough to make me well"
Fifth verse: "Good news is my shoes is Lined with all nickels and my tens"
great song!! love the ending. i think it's about prostitutes, but i don't feel like really thinking about it.
I agree. I think it's about a prostitute that falls in love with one of her customers that sees her as nothing more than...well, a prostitute.
i cannot wait for the album to be officially released.
I know there might be some prostitute type references..but..
"I owe you, but I know you You’ll have me back but it’s gonna take a week What now kid? Which way love? Will we ever make up and be friends"
To me that is about being with or hanging out with an ex-lover, and not knowing if you'll grow closer, or if you'll just go apart.
And in a similar vain, "take me to the riot", means, lets just go out and have fun.
I think it's probably about a prostitute. Or at least someone who party's to hard and then sleeps around.
"Saturday nights in neon lights Sunday in the cell Pills enough to make me feel ill Cash enough to make me well"
The first line just is partying and then on Sunday you pay for what you did. Either in your guilt/shame or in a prostitute's case, get caught and go to jail. The next lines make me think that they have a drug problem and the only thing that is good is the cash. I'm not sure how the cash line would fit in if the song wasnt about a prostitute. So that makes me lean more to the prostitute thought, rather than just some partier.
in the video for it (its on their myspace) its about like a new kid coming to the city for the first time and everything is super new...so i'd assume it must have at least SOMETHING to do with that...
