All She Wrote Lyrics

It never stops raining.
With daggers sewn through her heart, she cries.
She cries, she cries
Filled with confusion, she cries
"No one can help me until I can help myself.
And I can't help myself."

Frozen throughout, exposing broken skin
One week, one more week
She can't take anymore burning in her mind

"Why can't I sever your head?
Why can't I sever your memory?"

The image burned through her eyes has made it onto the mirror.
Broken glass reflecting on the shards of the past.
Forcefed memories, walking on tacks
Please pull the knife out of my back
And I'll the knife out of yours
"You can't stop the rain," she says.
"You can't stop the rain."

This is one of my favorite songs by The Acacia Strain. Not as relentlessly heavy as their newer stuff, but definitely more meaningful and emotional.

To me this song is about a girl who is in serious trouble and her friend is trying to help but she won't let them and they have to just watch her rot away. I'm not sure quite what the trouble is...these lyrics make it seem like it could be any number of things.

"Exposing broken skin" = cutting/self-mutilation?

"The image burned through her eyes has made it onto the mirror" = anorexia/bulimia?

"Broken glass reflecting on the shards of the past / forcefed memories" = Very bad memories (possibly of abuse?) that are tearing her down?

"One week, one more week" = sounds like something someone trying to quit a powerful drug would constantly use as an excuse?

So again, it could be any number of things, but it seems like one thing is clear; the friend is trying to help her and she won't allow it. She says "No one can help me until I can help myself, and I can't help myself" and "You can't stop the rain" which shows that no matter how hard anybody tries, she doesn't believe anybody can/won't let anybody help her.
