Lotus Lyrics
There are no ghosts
watchin' through your walls
so put the cross down
And there are no angels
readin' your thoughts
keep your feet on this ground
You gettin' scared yet?
The man in the blue suit's got God
Are we there yet?
The congregation's been sold off
They've been bought
What to do about tomorrow?
Please let it come, just let it come
Whatcha gonna do about today man?
It's right here, starin' you in the face
What a difference that would make
if we were finally...awake
You gettin' scared yet?
The man in the blue suit's guns
And are we there yet?
The congregation's been killed off
Are we gettin' scared yet?
We drop our bombs to lift them up
To lift them up
You've gotta be out of your head
Is it worth all the dead
Do you like it?
(Interlude)
Does the wife mind the touch
of your reddened hand
or the money on your breath
Does your balance turn her on
regardless of the sin?
Blind your eyes watchin' sunbeams
and you can't see this
creepin' pack of dogs
Blind your eyes watchin' sunbeams
You can't see this
creepin' pack of dogs
Blind your eyes watchin' sunbeams
the purebread beasts
wait, lickin' their chops
watchin' through your walls
so put the cross down
readin' your thoughts
keep your feet on this ground
The man in the blue suit's got God
The congregation's been sold off
They've been bought
Please let it come, just let it come
Whatcha gonna do about today man?
It's right here, starin' you in the face
if we were finally...awake
The man in the blue suit's guns

This song is so awesome especially the interlude and,
"Hide your eyes watchin' sunbeams You can't see this creepin' at the door"
That part of the song just amazes me for some reason.
This whole album just made me ecstatically happy when i first heard it and it still does :)
could they make the guitar alittle better? amazing shit
thats sarcasm... right??
anyone have any ideas on what this song means??
this song is amazing live. as for the meaning, i know it's not really like MTB to be political or anything, but it seems to me to be about president Bush (the man in the blue suit) and how he's always talking about God and the whole war. I've seen other places where the lyrics are "The man in the blue suits got God." But who knows, i could be totally wrong. it's a wonderful song no matter what it's about.
it appears that it is a very political song. but mtb is trying to reason with everyone that is happy or at least complacent with the current standing of america. mtb sounds like they want to rock the country awake. are you getting scared yet? love the sarcasm. yet deathly serious.
i also get a red animal war sound out of this song. raw is/was an indie band out of texas. at least the beginnings of this song is reminiscent to me.
also, the jimi Hendrix interlude is brilliant.
This is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Minus The Bear seems to get better with every album...I can't wait to see what they produce next.
Please, mtb, please don't get all political and anti-Bush on me now! But I do think it's a very political song. He's singing about how we've been ignoring the current state of our world and the problems we're having now because we're focusing too much on the future. There are problems that need fixing now - these issues aren't going to go away just because we're ignoring them. This war is a religious war - we're trying to conver the whole world to Christianity by bombing it. And we're so quick to condem people in the Middle East because of their beliefs. I don't agree with the message behind this song. I love MTB and all, but I don't love the message behind this. But maybe I have it all wrong. Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with the war or the U.S. or christianity.
