Morningside Lyrics

i'm not scared of you now
or so i say
there's no reason to run
although i may
i'm not as sure as i seem
this much i know
what does it mean you leave and i follow

i could try to forget what you do when i let you get
through to me but then you do it over again
i could rage like a fire and you'd bring rain i desire
til you get to me on my morningside

keep my distance i tried
no use
but no matter the miles
i'm back to you

i could try to forget what you do when i let you get
through to me but then you do it over again
i could rage like a fire and you'd bring rain i desire
til you get to me on my morningside

let me down you say never baby blues don't you ever
i'm used to being one with the misfortune to find
afternoons run for cover and full moons just wonder
what it looks like here on my morningside

look back don't you dare let me start to do that
i don't care if the things that i have
only make me afraid to lose i
need to let go
need to want to keep letting you know
that we both have a reason to follow
long as we let this lead i'm barely breathing

i try to forget what you do to me but then you do it over again
i could rage like a fire and you'd bring rain
til you get to me on my morningside

let me down you say never baby blues don't you ever
i'm used to being one with the misfortune to find
afternoons run for cover and full moons just wonder
what it looks like here on my morningside

ok... so i think she is falling for a dude... but she is a distant person and she doesn't want to admit to herself that she's falling. Maybe because she has fallen before and got hurt. (look back don't you dare let me start to do that i don't care if the things that i have only make me afraid to lose i need to let go)

i disagree... i think that it's someone she's known for a while, who really gets under her skin. and she knows it's a bad idea to be with him, but it's like she can't stop herself. (what does it mean you leave and i follow?) but that's just my take on it. : )

I'm going with benton on this one... At least that's how I took the song. It's like she's saying that no matter how hard she tries she can't get away from this person and she doesn't want to anyways and it scares her. Come on, "I could rage like a fire and you'd bring rain"?!?!?!?! Who doesn't want someone like that for themselves!!!

Can't you just see Elizabeth Bennett telling Mr. Darcy that she despises him, when she really means she's madly in love with him? That's what this song reminds me of.

That's exactly what I thought of when i first heard this song!

It's probably one of my favorite books.

I think that both of the first two comments are somewhat right. It seems like it is a person that she's known for a while, but she is afraid to trust herself with him.

I think that her 'morningside' is the side of her that gives in to him (think the 'morning after' when you're lounging around and cuddling). He really 'gets to her' at those moments when she lets herself go.

But I do think this is a person that comes in and out of her life. "I could try to forget what you do to me when I let you get through to me but then you do it over again." I commiserate because I have someone who always comes back just when I've gotten him out of my thoughts.

I agree it's someone she is vulnerable to. I feel like the content is very similar to Gravity. Personally I think it could be the same guy she's talking about in Gravity who smashes her heart to pieces.

It's about sex. "i try to forget what you do to me but then you do it over again i could rage like a fire and you'd bring rain til you get to me on my morningside" It's probably a friends with benefits type of situation, that's she's gotten hurt in before. But he's good, and she gets tempted every time because hey have a lot of chemistry. "morningside" is the next morning guilt she feels,

I think it's a bit of a combination of all of the above.

To me, it's about a guy who she can't help but keep on falling for - that one person that you're just a sucker for - and he knows how to play her to get with her. It sounds like he's using her for sex; he'd be there for her when she needs him so he can get what he wants.

"I could rage like a fire and you'd bring rain I desire 'til you get to me on my morningside."
