Detouring America With Horns Lyrics
You know the way to my enemies
You keep your eyes on my enemies
Calling me backwards
Stringing along my heart (that way)
You're on your way to my enemies
You're moving in on my memories
Calling me over
Taking this heart of mine (away)
You keep your eyes on my enemies
Calling me backwards
Stringing along my heart (that way)
You're on your way to my enemies
You're moving in on my memories
Calling me over
Taking this heart of mine (away)

Great song, even if I could never understand the lyrics. Now that I read the lyrics, it still doesn't make sense. But great song.
having never had a Yo La Tengo lyric sheet made available, i always assumed it was "You're on your way to Miami"
which i still kind of like better, if we are talking about Detouring America - with horns.
I had wondered whether the words "[You're/We're] on [our/the] way to Miami" were in there.

Perhaps the ambiguous title made me think not only of arranging studio recordings, but also of road trips. Never felt certain of any words in the lyrics; this transcription only raises new questions.
