Champions of Nothing Lyrics
When Hollywood runs out of Indians
When the bar stars melt and their golden hair turns into glass
When Hollywood runs out of Indians
When the bubble bursts and the first are come for by the last
There's something in the way you move
Makes me catch a cold
There's something in your "too cool for school"
When you slide up and down my pole
There's something in the way you look
That only casts a shadow
When Hollywood runs out of Indians
Only the Indians will know
A kick in the head, pass it around
Begging for a bed, pass it around
Pass it around
And I'd say what you'd say
It makes me feel nothing
There's a car waiting to take me to something
At the end of my rope there's
A new world, it's snowing
The globe it starts shaking
Is it me not worth knowing?
The white coats are melting
The snow down our mountains
To process the rivers for hallways, and fountains
And I'd say what you'd say
But it makes me feel nothing
Til there's a man waiting to take me to something
That I'm for
Hell
It looks red in all it's pictures
My sisters sing laments
While their skin blisters
(take your time, take your time, take your time)
Halleluiahs
Offered down on the floor
Nobody goes above decks
No, not no more
They say the sun is still shining
That you can feel it in your core
But I ain't seen nobody move
That weren't going for the door
And I'd say what you'd say
Champions of nothing
But there's a car waiting to take me to something
At the end of my rope
There's a new world, it's glowing
The globe it starts shaking
Was it you not worth knowing?
The white coats are melting
The snow down our mountains

I cant get over this song. Its so angry and repressed. Without being whiney and wishful. Its.. amazing. The way it opens up in the beginning. First song on the cd and I was like okayyy what is this? And all of a sudden you've fallen for it. Sansquatch.. Thats my favourite part. Because its sung with gritted teeth. Its completely open and emotional. I just cant believe this album is for real. And its so real. Its so harsh and textured and completely out there. Theres no hiding, no sugar coating, no meanings being altered to make it rhyme.. Thats whats so beautiful. The whole thing is scarred and rough.
"There's something in the way you move Makes me catch a cold There's something in your "too cool for school" When you slide up and down my pole There's something in the way you look That only casts a shadow"
Someone doesn't like his ex-wife.
I played the intro backward...
The indecipherable garble between "I hate you" and "Love is a strong word" is actually the man and woman both saying "Love is a strong word" in reverse. You should try it, it's cool.
i just saw this song live and it was one of the most amazing things i've ever seen...i could've left happy after seeing it..thank god i stayed for the rest though haha. Matt Good is simply amazing live!
All I can say right now is that I love this song and cannot wait for Hospital Music to come out!

What the hell is with my double post?
Sansquatch, I don't blame him.
Hearing it for the first time as I type this.
An album that begins with a 10 minutes song should be really special and amazing...this is one of those songs.
"When Hollywood runs out of Indians" is probably about the dwindling native population in Hollywood. When the last "authentic american" there disappears, no one will notice as Hollywood becomes 100% fake.
The next part is about leaving your wife/girlfriend because you realise she's a fake. "And I'd say what you'd say it makes me feel nothing" is about saying "I love you"
There are references throughout the song to issues of global warming, poverty and human rights violations
I agree with you about the "When Hollywood runs out of Indians" part. Also, I read somewhere that because different tribes speak with different accents and dialects that in many movies where they try to be as authentic as possible, they hire members of certain tribes to teach the cast the dialects. The thing is, though, that as much as the general audience may be fooled by the acting, the individuals from these tribes notice immediately that the accent is fake. So when he is saying "When Hollywood runs out of Indians only the Indians will know", he is saying...

So when he is saying "When Hollywood runs out of Indians only the Indians will know", he is saying the general populace will continue to be fooled by the acting, and think that what the movies are portraying to us is genuine, because we aren't really aware of the differences in dialects, but the true Indians will know.
