Fakey Fake Lyrics
Always been down with one of them too
You were the fake and I was the fool
But you were too young to know all the rules
So I was the fake and you were the fool
Something undone, words went unsung
I'll never be clean, you know what I mean
But you were too young to know all the rules
So I was the fake and you were the fool
Something that's warm
Something that's good
Can never be free, not that it should
You were the fake and I was the fool
But you were too young to know all the rules
So I was the fake and you were the fool
I'll never be clean, you know what I mean
But you were too young to know all the rules
So I was the fake and you were the fool
Something that's good
Can never be free, not that it should

I think this is about being in a relationship with someone younger. Looking back, the speaker sees that he was fake, perhaps leading his partner on, and he or she, the partner, was the fool in his or her inexperience. The speaker sees that the relationship could have gone further, and regrets things that went unsaid and things that didn't happen (the ugly "what-if" questions). The speaker says that he won't get better, and that his or her partner didn't know the rules (by which they were playing). The ending, "something that's warm/something that's good/can never be free/not that it should", states that real love comes at a cost, and rightfully so. Haha I think that was the most in-depth analysis I've ever done on a song. O.o
