The Lime Light Lyrics

Sober I swim in my sweatshirt
Cover every square inch of my skin
Well the hungry eyes call this the limelight
I think it tastes a lot more like lemons
Like the pendulum swings my mood
changes with drinks, a warm smile...
and a compliment

I ask the mirror what I've got
It just slurs its response
So I don't have to see what I am
or how I've become

(Chorus)
Now night has feel
the belt falls off
'til nothing's left to hold you up
Trading sex for self-esteem
Do you feel pretty? Ya know I feel pretty.

If you release your cork just before the water
It will ripple but not make a splash
well I held my cork down at the bottom
Why was I surprised
What it did
When it slipped
From my hands

(Chorus)
Now night has fell
the belt falls off
'til nothing's left to hold you up
Trading sex for self-esteem
Do you feel pretty? Goddamn I feel pretty.

Now night has fell
the belt falls off
'til nothing's left to hold you up
Trading sex for self-esteem
Do you feel pretty? I hope you feel pretty.

Cover art for The Lime Light lyrics by Paper Mache

Love this song- it's actually a very poignant view of the backstage and offstage life of a singer/songwriter on tour, as well as somewhat of an anthem for 'the tired whore'.
