Yeah Toast! Lyrics

All around the country and coast
People always say, "What do you like most?"
I don't want to brag, I don't want to boast
I always tell them that I like toast

Yeah, toast!
Yeah, toast!

I get up in the morning about 6 a.m.
Have a little jelly, have a little jam
Take a piece of bread, put it in the slot
Push down the lever and the wires get hot
I get toast

Yeah, toast!
Yeah, toast!

Now there's no secret to toasting perfection
There's a dial on the side and you make your selection
Push to the dark or the light and then
If it pops too soon, press down again
Make toast

Yeah, toast!
Yeah, toast!

When the first caveman drove in from the dregs
Didn't know what would go with a bacon and an egg
Must have been a genius, got it in his head
Plug the toaster in the wall, buy a bag of bread
Make toast

Yeah, toast!
Yeah, toast!

Oui monsieur bonjour coquette,
Unh hunh croissant et vous et vere,
Maurice Chevalier, Eiffel Tower,
Oui Marie, baguette Bonsoir!

French toast!
French toast!

In Chicago on the Bob and Tom show

Yeah, toast!
Toast

MWUHAHAHAHA! Why the heck am I the first to comment on this absolutely hysterical song? I love it! It makes me laugh so hard. My favorite part is the french part. :)

AHAHH. :D I love this song too.

Who the hell is saying it though? I don't really think it's Win...

This song would be nothing without the laughter and polite chuckling. :D

I downloaded this and deleted because I thought it couldn't be Arcade Fire.

1) This song is by Heywood Banks, and this transcription is from his performance on radio's The Bob and Tom Show. Not Arcade Fire. And technically, it's called "Toast".

2) The French verse isn't quite right. It's:

"Oui monsieur bonjour coquette, Unh hunh croissant et vous et vere, Maurice Chevalier, Eiffel Tower, Oui Marie, baguette Bonsoir!"

Maurice Chevalier was a French singer, and Bonsoir, I think, is a reference to the movie by that name.

The "laughter/polite chuckling" is coming from Bob and Tom, as Heywood is performing it live as a guest on the show.

Incidentally, he changes the song slightly when he performs it, for instance, there is a video where he added in a verse about Texas Toast. He also plays the background "drumming" by banging on a toaster with two forks.
