It Ain't Me Babe Lyrics
Go way from my window
Leave at your own chosen speed
I'm not the one you want, babe
I'm not the one you need
You say you're looking for someone
Who's never weak, but always strong
To protect you and defend you
Whether you are right or wrong
Someone to open each and every door
But it ain't me, babe
No, no, no, it ain't me, babe
Well, it ain't me you're looking for, babe
Go lightly from the ledge, babe
Go lightly on the ground
I'm not the one you want, babe
I'll only lead you down
You say you're looking for someone
Who will promise never to part
Someone to close his eyes to you
Someone to close his heart
Someone who will die for you and more
But it ain't me, babe
No, no, no, it ain't me, babe
Well, it ain't me you're looking for, babe
No it ain't me you're looking for, babe
I said no, no, no it ain't me, babe
I said no, no, no it ain't me, babe
I said no, no, no it ain't me, babe
Leave at your own chosen speed
I'm not the one you want, babe
I'm not the one you need
You say you're looking for someone
Who's never weak, but always strong
To protect you and defend you
Whether you are right or wrong
Someone to open each and every door
No, no, no, it ain't me, babe
Well, it ain't me you're looking for, babe
Go lightly on the ground
I'm not the one you want, babe
I'll only lead you down
You say you're looking for someone
Who will promise never to part
Someone to close his eyes to you
Someone to close his heart
Someone who will die for you and more
No, no, no, it ain't me, babe
Well, it ain't me you're looking for, babe
No it ain't me you're looking for, babe
I said no, no, no it ain't me, babe
I said no, no, no it ain't me, babe

I prefer this cover to the Dylan version, as the spite seems to be literally dripping from the singer's voice, especially the emphasis placed on the no no no part.
This was a song from the "Village days" when Neil Diamond, The Mamas and Papas (Mugwumps), the Turtles, the Lovin' Spoonful, Joni Mitchel, and Dylan were all buddies and hung out together at a coffee shop called "The Night Owl".
