Champagne's for Celebrating (I'll Have a Martini) Lyrics
She left her books, her car, her clothes, and a note
But all she wrote was, "Tonight I'm leaving on a train."
She says she's headed west
To make it right for one more night
And, well, I don't blame her if she is
But he thinks it's just one more sunset
And after all, it's her fault
If she hasn't caught on yet
So why'd you have to go?
Is there something I could say
To make you turn around?
'Cause nights like these
I wish I'd said don't go
Is there anybody there?
Can anybody help to get me out of here?
'Cause you're walking down a road that I can't go
She says she's headed west
To make it right for one more night
And, well, I don't blame her if she is
But he thinks it's just one more sunset
And after all, it's her fault
If she hasn't caught on yet
So why'd you have to go?
Is there something I could say
To make you turn around?
'Cause nights like these
I wish I'd said don't go
Is there anybody there?
Can anybody help to get me out of here?
'Cause you're walking down a road that I can't go
Try as I might
I just can't handle this
I lost myself inside a drunken kiss
And I, all that I wanted was to walk you home
Save a sad song for the sing-along
Oh my God, I just can't handle this
I lost myself inside a drunken kiss
And I, all that I wanted was to walk you home
Save a sad song for the sing-along
And she sings, "he'll be my tourniquet,"
As the record on my stereo plays
Her favorite song for two whole days
And the track stretched out for miles and miles
And what she'd give for one more smile
And how she hoped he missed her
'Cause, God, she missed how he would kiss her
So why'd you have to go?
Is there something I could say
To make you turn around?
'Cause nights like these

The meaning of this song seems to be right out there. Girl flat out leaves, and leaves a note. She's going west to make things right with another guy, because she misses this other guy. but the other guy doesnt feel anything for her, he just wants her for a one night stand. But she doesnt realize that.
As for our friend here, hes wondering why she left, and what he could have done or said to stop her from going. But shes doing something that is unforgivable, and when she comes back he wont be there.
great song. sounds very typical.. lol
Basically, girl meets derek during a drunken kiss where Derek and girl fall in love, they date for a while then girl leaves a note that explains "im leaving for California (when MP makes reference to out west, its cali) to make up with an old boyfriend who she's in love with but the other guy just wants a physical relationship" she thinks he'll fix her (be her turniquet) girl leaves without even a goodbye leaving derek sad playing her song for 2 whole days, then he realizes he's got to get over her, he does, girl then realizes the guy out west is bad but Derek isn't there when she gets back.
it says "Try as I might I Just can't handle this I lost myself inside a drunken kiss" etc
i'm hearing "and she sings you'll be my tourniquet, as the record on the stereo plays her favorite song for two whole days"
same thing for me as with brittanynoele
Is the title from a quote from the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie? Because at this one part they were at a restaurant and Brad Pitt said those exact words in the title.
Yeah I Was Wondering That About The Title Too...

RejoiceItsSusan I saw Mr and Mrs Smith last night and I actually realised thats right, after they realise they are both spies I dunno if that helps with working out what the song is about
I was just watching that and wondered too. I checked and the movie came out before the song, but that doesn't mean anything necessarily. I was wondering though, if it does have some parallel to the movie. The general tone seems to work.

The only question I have, is in the verse that says
"And she sings, "You'll be my tourniquet," As the record on my stereo Plays her favorite song for two whole days And the track stretched out for miles and miles And what she'd give for one more smile And how she hoped he missed her Cause, God, she missed how he would kiss her"
Is it about the guy she left, or the guy that she went back to out west?
its about the guy she went back to out west. shes singing the song, that the guy she left is listening to on repeat, and as shes driving shes thinking about him. thats where "And how she hoped he missed her Cause, God, she missed how he would kiss her" comes in.

I love this song. Mayday Parade is amazing.
So just out of curiosity... Is the song that she's singing "You'll be my tourniquet" lyrics to an actual song?
