The Takedown Lyrics
I feel things changing when I move
(It's a distance, it's a difference)
Across this planet without you
(And you might call this a downfall)
It's one long night that I'm passing through
(It's a dark one; what have I done?)
It's one long night
Don't turn your back on me now
You can't do this
And don't say you can live without
You can't do this alone
How did I end up like this, the lonely one?
Your greatest takedown
You take me down
Left last night with a long goodbye
(With some red wine through a phone line)
I told you thoughts that multiply
(That I don't know how to let go)
We've been here many times before
(I am empty when you leave me)
What's one more?
Don't turn your back on me now
You can't do this
Don't say you can live without
You can't do this alone
How did I end up like this, the broken one?
Your greatest takedown
You take me down
You take me down
I won't get by
I won't heal in time
I won't get by
Don't turn your back on me now
You can't do this
Don't say you can live without
You can't do this alone
How did I end up like this, the chosen one?
Your greatest takedown
You take me down

This is a great song. The instrumentals are so good. This may be Yellowcard's best album opener to their best album.
god this has to be the album of the year, such a great cd, i can honetly relate to all of his songs, i've been going trhough shit like this for the past 3 weeks now kinda over the girl who made me feel this way but i love yellowcard cause even tho they lyrics are kjnda sad the music jsut gets on the other side not making u feel sad at all... their songs ar elike so catchy i love yellowcard
Amazing song. This is really how it feels when someone turns their back on you and you don't want them to.
yes this is one of the best songs on the cd. i cant believe it only has 2 other comments!!
agreed wite bre05666. one of the best songs of off paper walls. just shows what yellowcard's emotions intertwine togther & make a song. perfect opener for the album. awesome song!
I cannot stand this song. I wish they opened the album with a better song.
This song is at best okay. I find the chorus way too short to satisfy.
yellowcard is most definately the shi* i just finished listenin to paper walls and this one definately won't get out of my head their musical abilities only increase with every album but am i the only one who thinks a good portion of their lyrics don't make sense? they sound great and flow with the music but don't seem to mean a whole lot sometimes maybe that's just how they write though and i'm much too stupid

The Takedown. Great song, with enough violin and a guitar solo to go around with as well as a fast pace. The song MIGHT be about Ben Harper's departure from Yellowcard (How did I end up like this, the lonely/broken/chosen one? Your greatest takedown?) Either that, or it's a description of disappointing someone.
