When we first met we were kids, we were wild
We were restless
And after a while, I grew coarse, I grew cold
I grew reckless
I hold this memory, hold you so close to me
Whispered "will we always have this?"

Lately it feels like I'm asleep
And I just can't wake
Pacing the floor, want to call
But I can't so I hang up
Sharing a seat on the train
With a lady who's crying, has ruined her make up

Now I see just how young, how scared I was
Eyes closed tight, throwing punch after punch at the world
Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same?
Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same?

Said goodbye to all the places I used to go
Said goodbye to all the faces I used to know
Nothing lasts forever
I guess by now, I should know
I should know

There ain't a thing I can say that will ever repair
And you, who had so much advice
And yet couldn't share
Maybe someday, we will look back on this and we'll smile
But right now I can't bear

Now I see just how young, how scared I was
Eyes closed tight, throwing punch after punch at the world
Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same?
Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same?

The lyrics on the recorded version are more like this (one or two words near the beginning I'm not certain about):

When we first met we were kids We were wild, we were restless But after a while I grew coarse I grew cold, I grew reckless

I hold this memory I pulled you so close to me Whispering "Will we always have?"

Lately it feels like I'm sleeping And I just can't wake Pacing the floor Want to call, but I can't So I hang up

Sharing a seat on the train With a lady who's crying It's ruin(??) to me

Now I see just how young and scared I was Eyes closed tight, throwing punch after punch at the world Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same? Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same?

Said goodbye to all the places I used to call Said goodbye to all the faces I used to know Nothing lasts forever, I guess by now I should know I should know

There ain't a thing I can say That will ever repair And you who had so much advice And yet wouldn't share it

Maybe someday we will look back on this And we'll smile But now I can't bear it

Now I see just how young, how scared I was Eyes closed tight, throwing punch after punch at the world Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same? Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same?

Yeah, the lyrics I uploaded were from the original version that he was playing live in 2005.

The version on the album sucks ass. He ruined that song.

    Song Comparison

I think the lyrics are based on a live performance recording:

When we first met we were kids, we were wild, we were restless And after a while, I grew coarse, I grew cold, I grew reckless I hold this memory, hold you so close to me, whispered, "Will we always last?" Lately it feels like I'm asleep and I just can't wake up Pacing the floor, want to call, but I can't so I hang up Sharing a seat on the train with a lady who's crying has ruined her make up

Now I see just how young, how scared I was Eyes closed tight, throwing punch after punch at the world Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same? Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same?

Said goodbye to all the places that I used to go Said goodbye to all the faces that I used to know Nothing lasts forever... I guess by now, I should know... I should know.

There ain't a thing I can say that will ever repair You had so much advice, and yet couldn't share. Maybe someday, we will look back on this and we'll smile, but right now I can't bear it.

Now I see just how young, how scared I was, Eyes closed tight, throwing punch after punch at the world. Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same? Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same?

    My Interpretation

I think he's thinking about when he told Sarah on the train his secret which is that he cheated on her. He's also explaining how it was when they were young before he became a jerk. The reason I think he cheated on her was how he became "coarse, cold, & reckless." All ways to describe someone who has not cared about your heart and cheated on the person they're supposed to love and whose heart they're supposed to take care of. Now he can't call her. He broke the relationship. He was "scared" and "young" and so he cheats in order to feel less freaked out about their relationship & make it less important to him. So now he's wondering if it's ever going to be the same.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
