(and we will fall back into the ocean)
the mountain tops are hard to see
they tell how far you really are from me
the clouds are thick but they can't hide you
they can't hide you from me
some things are here to kill me
can you feel it now,
we're burning up
amongst your flames
amongst your love
our life (i am in the earth it’s where you’ll find me
you, you’re in the sky
it’s where you’ll find me)
you, you're like the sun
and i am earth
together we're one
but someday
your fire will die
and i'll grow cold
without sunlight.
and i will freeze baby
i will die
i would freeze and i'd die for you
one thing I know you didn’t know was how to
fall head first,
hand-in-hand into the ocean blue
we count down,
take a breath and jump,
we're falling
you'll scream, "baby, we're simply growing"
(you're in the sky)
i think maybe, i wouldn't mind to die like this
i may not say everything that's on my mind
i am in the earth, it's where you'll find me
you're in the sky
fall from you
don't fret, baby, we're simply growing
and my darling, i wouldn't mind to die like this
don't fret, baby, we're simply growing.
don't fret, babe, the sun is coming
they tell how far you really are from me
the clouds are thick but they can't hide you
they can't hide you from me
some things are here to kill me
can you feel it now,
we're burning up
amongst your flames

Foreword

i do support the idea of a christian theme. for anyone who has read the bible, there is an idiom that states "with faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains."
furthermore, pertaining to the song, I'm guessing it is a conversational idea about faith. for instance, "one thing i never did know was how to fall head first, hand-in-hand into the ocean blue." the concept of faith is complete and utter belief, irregardless of knowledge; atleast, how i interpret it. i believe they use the idea of the sky: when you think of god or heaven, where do you look? - the sky. the use of the sky is what i believe to be the singer's approach to his relationship with god. although the "fire will die" (uncertainty in faith), the sun is coming, alluding to the idea that upon death, he will be reconciled with god.
not to refute anyone elses comments, this album is definitely a concept album. i think it helps to look at it from beyond a platonic level (boys loves girl, or whatever i.e. the cliche love song). simply the title of the album states it, at least for me: Pneumatology is the study of the unknown, or of divine interest. therefore, maybe a Pneuma is pseudonym for God or faith. aside from the meaning that pneuma is ancient greek for respiration or breathe, it still pertains to life as a whole, and sine god is such an integral part of life, it adds to this.
even if the lyrics are related to God and christianity and such doesn't mean it has to be classified as "christian music" just look at mewithoutYou
Ok, I simply adore this band and all of their songs, this one is my favourite in album.
Moving Mountains use a srong "nature theme" in their songs, a harmony between nature and mankind. Pneuma means "breath" in greek, the word also used in religious context for "spirit", in stoic philosphy means "animating warm breath, in both the cosmos and the body", in ancient medicine it's used to describe "the circulating air that is necessary for the systemic functioning of vital organs". Also Anaximenes of Miletus (Pre-Socratic philosopher) describes it as "air in motion, breath, wind" as his words "As our souls, being air, hold us together, so breath and air embrace the entire universe."
There's a great affection in their songs, mostly for the nature. It's not just about two people loving each other, but more like a metaphor to describe the love against the earth and the harmony of all life on it. They use love as it's purest form, as energy and life, the life giving force that connects all the living together as well two person loving eachother. You can also find a strong taste of "evolution" in their songs. My opinion is their main theme is about love & nature. They kinda say without the earth, the sky and the oceans there's no love.
Please listen their song "Cover the Roots, Lower the Stems" before thinking about this, I think then you'll know what my point is.
First I'd like to point out that the date 8/01/2005 is actually the day that the band began as Oceans Moving Mountains.
Secondly, the lyrics to Pneuma/Foreword/Waves were inspired by the death of a close friend of the singer/writer.
best song on the whole cd! all 8 minutes and 31 seconds of it. the cd is brilliant though. even after listening to it about 15x, i didnt realize that the lyrics are very similar in every song. the cd is telling a story from beginning to end about him being the earth and the girl being the sun. its crazyyy. wow
if you think god is a girl, then yea. great tunes, but it's christian rock at the core. it's just not lame like switchfoot.
you're seriously crazy if you think it's christian. first off, if a christian used god as a metaphor for a girl, that's simple blasphemy beause there is only one God and that is "the lord almighty".

also, like Freddox said, christian bands do not use baby. Baby references the song is to a girl. If he said Lord, it'd be to-- well you get the picture.

This song is merely about commitment in a relationship and they are beginning to drift apart which is not what he wants.

Moving Mountains are not a christian band, they are just...
Moving Mountains are not a christian band, they are just phenmenal band.
Even though you may be on to something I doubt the album is christian..
"you'll scream, 'baby, we're simply growing'" Does God really scream "baby!" when he or she is falling? Doubt it.
It's Romeo and Juliet... they don't really die as teenagers literally... they die young at heart... I like the idea of revolution. Then again we're just on a plant in the middle of nowhere spinning around... I think of the movie the invisible where the girl spins around at the dance club... Also I have this book called "Astonish Yourself! 101 experiments in the philosophy of everyday llife" by Roger-Pol Droit it reminds me of scenerio 5 pg.11 entitled... "See the stars below you".

no "Pneuma" is not a pseudonym for anything religious, it means "breathe" in greek
