Death to my hometown Lyrics
I can hardly wait
Until I fall asleep
Tomorrow I'll throw away
Everything I keep
The days I tried to cage
Had already escaped
The months I tried to save
Were wasted anyway
Death to your concern
Death to my return
Death to my hometown
Death to your regret
Death to my respect
Death to my hometown
I can hardly wait
Until I wake again
Tomorrow when you wake
I'll be on my way
Until I fall asleep
Tomorrow I'll throw away
Everything I keep
Had already escaped
The months I tried to save
Were wasted anyway
Death to my return
Death to my hometown
Death to your regret
Death to my respect
Death to my hometown
Until I wake again
Tomorrow when you wake
I'll be on my way

its a reflection the discovery that things in your life arent what you thought they were... the people, places in your life came out from under you in such a fitting way to give one an epiphany that you can only truly rely on yourself... something you knew but didn't fully realize until some event occoured to actualize a realization at a spefecific moment and you are let down.
oh did I mention this song is fucking beautiful?
This song is a 10/10. So gorgeous. I like the first stanza, its kinda like starting a new life.
One correction on the lyrics. The word "months" should be "moments." The second stanza actually is:
The days I tried to cage Had already escaped; The MOMENTS I tried to save Were wasted anyway
The lyrics are correct for the chorus for the album version of the song. Some live versions of the song add the word "and" before "death" in the second, third, fifth, and sixth lines of the chorus.
This is an exceptionally touching and tragic/beautiful song. It is a wonderful example of simplicity in music and lyrics that construct something far greater than the sum of the parts.
