Here Today, Gone Tomorrow Lyrics

Thirty hour drive from home.
Think I'd feel so alone, that couldn't be less true.
Family travelling by my side.
Lifeline friends we can't deny.
See the world with you.

Here today, gone tomorrow.
We're saying our goodbyes.
Drive away from the past.
Don't be sad, don't feel sorrow.
The memories in our hearts, I won't forget.

An icy road with no remorse.
A metal box drifting off course is taking everything.
I can't believe we lost you,
I can't feel any worse now.
This must be a dream.
When will someone wake me?

Here today, gone tomorrow.
We're saying our goodbyes.
Drive away from the past.
Don't be sad, don't feel sorrow.
The memories in our hearts, I won't forget.

All my life, I've never felt so strong as when we're all together.
All my days, I've never felt so powerless when you were taken away.
There's no one in this world with so much love and so much passion.
We'll say goodbye, but we won't forget the liberty and fortitude.

Here today, gone tomorrow.
We're saying our goodbyes.
Drive away from the past.
Don't be sad, don't feel sorrow.
The memories in our hearts, I won't forget.

I won't forget.
(It's in our hearts, it's in our hearts)

The song is about John "Beatz" Holohan the former drummer of Bayside who died in a tour bus accident. "An icy road with no remorse, A metal box drifting off course is taking anything" is referring to the accident. In the actual lyric booklet it says RIP Beatz at the end of the song

R.I.P. John Beatz

Yeah, it's totally obvious that it's about Beatz, mtownloaxer24 totally got it right. The metal box drifting of course is reffering to a car, particularly a tour van. I wonder if it says anything about the bassist from Bayside...

Isn't it "Lifelong friends we can't deny," not "Lifeline friends..."

Sorry to let you down - but this song is not about John Beatz. The song is written about Shane and Neil's family members whom they lost while on tour last year. If I remember right - it was Shane's grandfather and Neil's cousin.

I was just listening to this song when it all of a sudden I realized this song was about John Beatz. I had always assumed this song was about the family members they mentioned losing in the AP article they had, like x740xbreakdownsx, but I just put the pieces together in my head.

To expand on what mtown said, I think it's important to mention that Silverstein was on tour with Bayside when that happened.

Very touching and sad song, especially for me after realizing who it was about.

RIP Beatz

(Based on the lyrics) I think that this song is about how something wonderful happens, but is later taken away from you.

it is about john beatz, but it also sounds pretty optimistic aswell though; "Don't be sad, don't feel sorrow. The memories in our hearts, I won't forget."
