I'm gonna go ahead and say this is about a 'friends with benefits' kind of relationship. He was just fucking around with her, and she expected something more. He, of course, isn't being a total ass and is trying to make her realize he never wanted it to happen this way in the first place - "I told you from the start / That I'm not your boyfriend".

Hmmm!! Sometimes people get caught up and he should realize that because us women are notorious for us. He was "fair" from the start by making it clear what he in it for but whatever... girls will be girls and guys will be guys, right? I really like this song and the actual way in which the verses are song. It sounds awesome.
