Every Single Instinct Lyrics
Oh what did I think (would happen)
Bank robbers and a few drinks (slip back in)
Every page torn out in a planner penciled in doubt,
Color slides and India ink
Landscapes strung up and still wet
Former ranges now lay flat
Barely spring but green enough
Obviously scarred but not too tough
Every single instinct, wrung them out like rags
Every one I ever had
Every fork and turn off following your lead
Evergreens and hawthorn seeds
Formulas and foul ups tied in canvas bags
Shredded into tiny scraps
Every single instinct, wrung them out like rags
Every one I ever had
Every single instinct
Bank robbers and a few drinks (slip back in)
Every page torn out in a planner penciled in doubt,
Color slides and India ink
Landscapes strung up and still wet
Former ranges now lay flat
Barely spring but green enough
Obviously scarred but not too tough
Every one I ever had
Every fork and turn off following your lead
Evergreens and hawthorn seeds
Formulas and foul ups tied in canvas bags
Shredded into tiny scraps
Every single instinct, wrung them out like rags
Every one I ever had

This song is about Morrissey and his relationship with the childhood home town. Growing up in a place riddled with poverty was not easy and it greatly influenced his writing. I think Mac did a great job of portraying Morrissey as painter painting out every song and then eventually gaining fame and losing "every single instict" that he had previously known from his old life.
Brit Slang is used: regs=regulars (at a bar or restaurant) scab=union strike
