Cancel On Me Lyrics
Cancel on me again,
Oh, cancel on me again,
And its not you fault and again,
No its not your fault you said, Oh,
All the world has come to see the end,
You will never see this place again,
All the world has come to see the end,
You will never see my face again,
No its not you fault and again,
No its not your fault you said,
So cancel on me again,
Oh, cancel on me again, Oh,
All the world has come to see the end,
You will never see this place again,
All the world has come to see the end,
You will never see my face again,
All the world has come to see the end,
You will never see this place again,
All the world has come to see the end,
You will never see my face again,
Dreaming of you pushing up to me,
And I know where its gona lead,
I'm dreaming of you rushing up to me,
You know its where you want to be,
Dreaming of you pushing up to me,
And I know where its gona lead,
Dreaming of you rushing up to me,
That was the boy I used to be,
I'm dreaming of you rushing,
I'm dreaming of you rushing,
I'm dreaming of you rushing,
I'm dreaming of you rushing up to me,
Oh, cancel on me again,
And its not you fault and again,
No its not your fault you said, Oh,
You will never see this place again,
All the world has come to see the end,
You will never see my face again,
No its not your fault you said,
So cancel on me again,
Oh, cancel on me again, Oh,
You will never see this place again,
All the world has come to see the end,
You will never see my face again,
You will never see this place again,
All the world has come to see the end,
You will never see my face again,
And I know where its gona lead,
I'm dreaming of you rushing up to me,
You know its where you want to be,
And I know where its gona lead,
Dreaming of you rushing up to me,
That was the boy I used to be,
I'm dreaming of you rushing,
I'm dreaming of you rushing,
I'm dreaming of you rushing up to me,

the boy i used to be EP bring back so many memorys for me finishing school and walking alll over the place in the blazing sunshine brings a tear to my fucking eye i love this band
"I'm dreaming of you rushing up to me" what a line! i can just seem to relate to all BBC's lyrics!
This is one of my favorites of their songs! It sounds so happy but the meaning isn't. Sounds to me like a boy who clearly has more invested into the relationship than the girl. Wanting everything to be perfect but its just not that way.
I think a lot of this album is about a love which is unbalanced. He describes someone as "deified" in Lamplight. He's definitely in too deep.

Every time I hear this song the only thing I can think of is a hopeless romantic chasing a girl that is always just out of reach. But he also feels like he's changed, hence "the boy I used to be". Though deep down he still tortures himself with the thought of being with the one person who still consumes his dreams.
i love this song, thanx for uploading these lyrics... .)
I think it is about a boy who waits in public for someone he fancies and sees the relationship going somewhere. But she always shows him up. And at that moment, it feels as if he is pitied or observed by the people around that sees him alone. He feels spiteful and does not want to return to the same place due to the memory associated with it. However, he still wishes that one day she will be as excited to meet him as he was. Just my 2 cents worth! One song can have different meanings to different people!
This song immediately pulled me in. I initially missed the first part of this song when I first heard it, but somewhere in the middle the tone of the song just felt so sad and somber. I immediately felt connected to it.
This song caught me during a very painful time in my life where my heart was full of pain and deep sadness over the loss of a person who'm I grew incredibly fond of over time. So free and natural in her way of being, I never had a chance.
I think this song talks about a person who's making a decision to finally let go of someone. The tone of the song makes me feel as though the guy is crazy about this girl; you know, thinking about her, fantasizing about her, longing for her. He tries and tries to get this girl on his side, but she continually flakes and cancels on him. It's as though they've already spent a few times together and he's really just trying to recreate those memories and feelings again, but she keeps cancelling on him. He's kind of cast aside with no explanation, no details, no answers. All he has left are memories of them together with a strong yearning to be next to her once more, and a conflicting knowing that that's as far as things are gonna go. Her saying it's not his fault, indicates her outgrowing him. Hence, it's not his fault. His wavering voice transmits the helplessness, sadness, and pain of this knowledge, as well as his still very strong and real emotion of missing and longing for her.
The verse then goes off to talk about death in a symbolic metaphorical way? I believe he talks about humanity's stay here on earth. We're all here on earth for only one reason, to see how it's all gonna end. With this in mind, we go through adventures, hardships, joys, sorrows, we go through people, not knowing how it's gonna end. We experience these incredibly deep and real emotions with other people, not knowing if we'll ever get to see that person again. Traversing the world with no certainty of ever seeing it again the next day. I think the comparison of this fact or "fact" along with his feelings and memories of this girl just make those fragments of his life so much more precious and beautiful and meaningful.
He ends the song by envisioning her running up to him and embracing him with feeling. Admitting to himself that he knows where those thoughts are gonna lead him, heartache; but naively still dreaming of her coming to find him, and by revealing THAT, acknowledges his growth from that experience (That was the boy I used to be) and his letting go of her, only to backslide again into dreaming of her. Repeating the whole experience again in his mind.
A true hopeless romantic.
