A History of Bad Men Lyrics
Wake up, you never looked so glum
Tell me how do you know they can't hear us coming
It's easy for me, I got a head start running away
Keep up for your disease spread quick so
How did you learn to be sick, so cunning
It's easy to sing, but you just keep on humming along
Did you hear that? I got a real bad feeling
How many more do you suppose they're keeping?
Don't make a sound they're not dead, just sleeping.
Dire dire dire. . .It's fleeting

This is the correct version (as far as I can tell) in the correct order:

I got a real bad feeling How many more do you suppose they're keeping? Don't make a sound they're not dead, just sleeping.

I got a real bad feeling How many more do you suppose thier keeping Don't make a sound, they're not dead, just sleeping.
Basically, it's about people who inspire movements/styles/fashions, etc. They seem so important, dangerous, edgy and new at the time, but, most of the time, it just fades away, covered up by the next temporary fad. No matter how important and famous it seems at the time, there's always another half-baked idea ready to take it's place.
This song is about spreading STDs lol. It’s not about dying fads. He’s singing about sleeping with woman knowing the consequences of doing so, leaving them with an STD. The lyrics on this are not right.
@MelvinsarebetterthanTool LOL. thinking about it like this makes the song sound even nastier

Don't make a sound they're not dead, just sleeping
I'm hearing "Did you hear that? I gotta real bad feeling..."
I hear the same thing, underthemooch. Great song. So creepy / bad ass.

"It's easy to sing but you just keep on humming along..." This might actually have a meaning. I've grown accustom to listening to this song accompanied by a video of clips from Sin City, it's a good pair for the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk9L99nrmYc This song, to me, sounds like an action movie. A good one though, with just a couple cheesy special movie effects. Maybe about a hitman who goes to kill someone and makes a scene out of it, ends up framing the man who hired him, 'coz he did something to him a long time ago, but with some sick twist at the end. I'm just making shit up now. I love the melvins, they never cease to amaze me.
Careful, this is a psychadelic song, so each lyric is very much loaded with contemplations about the universe itself. \r\n\r\n-------\r\nWake up, you never looked so glum\r\nTell me how do you know they can\'t hear us coming\r\nIt\'s easy for me, I got a head start running away\r\nKeep up for your disease spread quick so\r\nHow did you learn to be sick so\r\nCunning\r\nIt\'s easy to sing, but you just keep on humming along\r\nDid you hear that?\r\nI got a real bad feeling\r\nHow many more do you suppose they\'re keeping?\r\nDon\'t make a sound they\'re not dead, just sleeping.\r\n------\r\n\r\nWake up, it\'s a new day, a new dollar. The same old same old. And it\'s depressing.\r\n\r\nHow do you know that others don\'t know how you\'re feeling? Why should they care?\r\n\r\nIt\'s easy for me to flee social obligations, because I saw it early. But I\'m still a failure.\r\n\r\nMisery loves company, your disease spreads quick.\r\n\r\nHow did you learn to be sick, so cunning? Or rather, how did you learn to be so cunning... was it because you\'re just sick in the head?\r\n\r\nIt\'s easy to succeed and do more if you only just realize it, but instead you just keep fulfilling the minimal responsibilities that come with life, or your job, or whatever it happens to be.\r\n\r\nDid you hear that? Do you see into your future? Do you have a bad feeling?\r\n\r\nHow many more misfortunes do you suppose the mischievous elements of fate are keeping? \r\n\r\nDon\'t jinx yourself. The people who noticed you before and tried to encourage you aren\'t dead. They\'re just \'sleeping\'. If you prove yourself, they will wake up again, and engage you again. But you have to be careful, because they want something from you, and you have to have a clear enough head to recognize whether or not you should give it to them.\r\n\r\n-----\r\nDire dire dire. . .It\'s fleeting\r\nDire dire dire. . .It\'s fleeting\r\nDire dire dire. . .It\'s fleeting\r\nDire dire dire. . .It\'s fleeting\r\nDire dire dire. . .It\'s fleeting\r\nDire dire dire. . .It\'s fleeting\r\nDire dire dire. . .It\'s fleeting\r\n-----\r\n\r\nCareful with your emotions, or you may turn evil. It\'s fleeting. So is reality itself.\r\n\r\n-----\r\n\r\n

@j113949856 That\'s because I wrote with spaces and new lines, but the website formatting got rid of that - apparently replacing it with literal \'/n\' and \'/r\'. I guess there\'s something wrong with it, oh well. Must be a dying site?

@j113949856 And, to top it all off, your last reply was sent TWICE! The humanity! lol BTW, I like your well thought out interpretation. Not sure if that was the intended meaning, or not, but it is well thought out and cohesive, none the less.
