It IS the bitch of living with nothing but your hand. As a diehard, devoted fan of this musical, I believe this is one of the best songs in the show. It's cold, hard truth all the way.

Now although this song is heavily influenced about masterbation and the sexual tension of schoolboys, it is also about many other aspects of life that truly makes it a bitch. The unknowing of a better good, the lack of god, and having to deal with it without being able to change it all have a good deal to do with it.
This is one of the most fantastic scenes in the musical - SO much energy!!
My favorite is Hanschen singing about Bobby Maler, I didn't realize he way gay until I saw the whole show, and then the line made so much more sense. It's fantastic!
