Knights Lyrics
I owe you, don't I?
A little light today, but tomorrow
Oh, tomorrow
I owe you, don't I?
I know it ain't the money
Girl, there never was money
It's usually so typical
A piece of you for a piece of me
It's hard-coded
A piece of you for a piece of...me
And it's all right
Let's call it good
Ah ah no more
Let's make this even
It's usually so typical
A piece of you for a piece of me
It's hard-coded
A piece of you for a piece of me
It's usually so typical
a piece of you for a piece of me
It's hard-coded
Is it really a sin if we both come out even?
Come out even
A little light today, but tomorrow
Oh, tomorrow
I owe you, don't I?
I know it ain't the money
Girl, there never was money
A piece of you for a piece of me
It's hard-coded
A piece of you for a piece of...me
Let's call it good
Ah ah no more
Let's make this even
A piece of you for a piece of me
It's hard-coded
A piece of you for a piece of me
a piece of you for a piece of me
It's hard-coded
Come out even

on the daytrotter interview from July 3, 2008, the notes below the live version of the song say:
"Sometimes sex can feel like an exchange of goods or even a loan to be repaid later. It’s body lending, baby."
I say it's about his girl cheating on him, and him then cheating on her to make it even. That's why he doesn't see it as a sin, because he owes her.
chorus is "this usury's so typical" not "it's usually so typical"
kc accidental: This is DEFINITELY not the weakest song on the album, at least not by my standards. (That honor goes to White Mystery, with its [for the most part] disappointingly minimal instrumental arrangement and without the passion in the vocals to make the lyrics convincing.)
But what can I say, I'm more of a sucker for the overall musical impacts of Minus the Bear songs than for the lyrics in most cases.
"It's usually so typical" is incorrect, it should be "This usury's so typical..."
"It's usually so typical" is incorrect, it should be "This usury's so typical..."
dxm's right. it is "this usury's."
lets make this even....
wow, i think im gunna use that one next time im in bed...
the song's about gambling...not sex
MONEY! Aaaaah now it makes sense =]
