The Ballad of Gus and SAm Lyrics
i'm an honest guy i've got no reason to lie
you're a superstitious girl you put a spell on the world
the conversations great yeah i can tell
things are moving fast like a bat out of hell
i can lose my step here for you front foot forward to find
your positions good
for making skeleton stew
sh sh she got the numbers in her neck
and now she's reaching for you
the conversations great yeah i can tell
there's a ghost in the room
i'm to scared to yell
i can lose my breath for you front foot forward to find
uh oh oh oh yeah yeah
uh oh oh oh yeah yeah
uh oh oh oh yeah yeah
uh oh oh oh yeah yeah
on a ouija board we were talking to gus
he killed a girl named sam
and now she's coming for us.
the conversations great yeah i can tell
things are moving fast like a bat out of hell
i can lose my stepping for you front foot forward to find
the conversations great yeah i can tell
there's a ghost in the room i'm to scared to yell
i can lose my breath here for you front food forward to find
you're a superstitious girl you put a spell on the world
things are moving fast like a bat out of hell
i can lose my step here for you front foot forward to find
for making skeleton stew
sh sh she got the numbers in her neck
and now she's reaching for you
there's a ghost in the room
i'm to scared to yell
i can lose my breath for you front foot forward to find
uh oh oh oh yeah yeah
uh oh oh oh yeah yeah
uh oh oh oh yeah yeah
he killed a girl named sam
and now she's coming for us.
things are moving fast like a bat out of hell
i can lose my stepping for you front foot forward to find
there's a ghost in the room i'm to scared to yell
i can lose my breath here for you front food forward to find

He's said that this is a song about ghosts and just supernatural experiences in general. I read an article on SPIN.com about it:
"...the song was inspired by a seance he and his friends held with a Ouija board. During the spooky session, a guitar amp in the room started making ghostly noises as the board "made references to a spirit named Gus, who confessed to murdering a girl named Sam," Lionheart told SPIN.com. "A couple of days later, one of the girls [at the Ouija session sit-in] said she was visited in her bedroom by the ghost of Sam. One time I was playing that song at a show, and the lights on the whole block went out. It's haunted."
I really do love this song, except now that I listen to it, I"m gonna get freaked out. Ha, I don't know why. Jeez. haha.
