Escape the Nest Lyrics
Buildings and clouds here
Our time and our place dear
There's life in us yet love
These walls we will climb above
We really are ants now
Escape the nest somehow
I ached for a feeling
You came and you poured it in
It in...
Buildings and clouds here
Our time and our place dear
There's life in us yet love
These walls we will climb above
Above...
Look up
Through the trees to feel as small as you can
You hear the clocks
Counting down
The night are longer now than ever before
But now you see
The lights from the town
I'm drained and I'm empty
I've still got love in me
There's eyes in the sky tonight
Watching us lose the fight
We really are ants now
Escape the nest somehow
I ached for a feeling
You came and you poured it in
It in...
Look up
Through the trees to feel as small as you can
You hear the clocks
Counting down
The night are longer now than ever before

Best song on there album. Just like ailingamelie said, the part 'Look up through the trees to feel as small as you can' really touched me. I'ts the way it's sung. I think it's basicly about how small we are in terms of the universe and we life our lives but times running out and that it's not bad to take a moment and think about it. you know? Love this song.
Hrhm. I think it's about working all your life, being just a busy ant in the nest, wasting all the time away ("You hear the clocks counting down"), getting closer to death ("...us lose the fight") and how days just seem to be shorter and shorter ("the nights are longer now than ever before").
This song is fantastic, in particular the ascending part of Look up/ through the trees to feel as small as you can, from that point is pure genius I think. I really feel touched from it, it moves something in me, this and other two songs of the album are three of my favourite siongs ever. good job editors.
Coming to terms with death is what most songs on the End has a Start album are about. I think this song is about having an illness that will kill you in the end, and having someone you love help you come to terms with it, and enjoy what time you've got left, despite the pain. Maybe it's about feeling very small, knowing you will have to die in the end, but still finding the good and beauty in life. It's about how you need friends and family in a situation like this.
One of the best songs off the new album. Not sure what it means.
Becoming my fave song off the album with every listen.
about trying to be big & famous
This song is truly amazing. The sound, the lyrics...I feel it is about 2 people who found a new spark in their nearly burned out relationship.

I'm seriously thinking it's about a vampire who's stuck in the huge traffic of a highway. Not sure why it's a highway he's talking about, but the feeling is the same as when I see the light of the town after six hours in the traffic for a road of about 250 km. And Tom is a vampire, so...
