Kick the Bass Lyrics
Is there something on your mind?
Couldn't just let it show, seems your life is one white-line
I'm walking away with the life of the party
(But you do)
Do what you do and say what you say
You can wear what you want, but we still look the same
I need to be somebody sometimes
Feeling so cool in the shade of the spotlight
Yeah I'm a fool for the girls and the parties
Powder buffets, all the drinks the excitement
Do you even know who you are?
Do you really know who you are?
Never thought we would go this far
Looking for the right solutions
I'm walking away with the life of the party
(But you do)
Do what you do and say what you say
You can wear what you want, but we still look the same
Couldn't just let it show, seems your life is one white-line
I'm walking away with the life of the party
(But you do)
Do what you do and say what you say
You can wear what you want, but we still look the same
Feeling so cool in the shade of the spotlight
Yeah I'm a fool for the girls and the parties
Powder buffets, all the drinks the excitement
Do you even know who you are?
Do you really know who you are?
Looking for the right solutions
I'm walking away with the life of the party
(But you do)
Do what you do and say what you say
You can wear what you want, but we still look the same

can't wait for the video. ;)
but, yeah, this song, as is mentioned in the chorus, is about finding a place in drinks, drugs, girls and parties.
Extracted from: http://www.julien-k.com/media/kick_the_bass :
"...the lyrics quickly popped into my head, honestly detailing my narcissism and problems with substance abuse" - Rynsk
"seems your life is one white line" and "powder buffets" are obvious references to heavy cocaine use.
"Feeling so cool in the shade of the spotlight" - narcissism.
Apparently, this song is also about what people think goes on in the life of every rockstar.
I saw the music clip and I must say I was in for a ride. I only checked it out for the sake of Chester, but he didn't seem to be a prominent member of the band. In the clip, he was the antagonist, per se, and I think that sets the tone for his role with Julien-k. It seemed as if he was only there for vocals and extra things, but not totally devoted to the noir and nefarious image. Maybe it doesn't match his rocker reputation, rather than a dark grunge sort of thing. Who knows. It's just my interpretation of Chester's role in Julien-k.
