I adore this song. I believe It's about thinking someone was entirely yours "I thought you were mine." and then discovering it isn't all happy days after all. Their relationship refuses to grow and now she doesn't feel any love for him. I think the "nothing in my belly" may be about not feeling 'butteflies' or excitement when she sees him anymore. She takes back her heart and tells him she's happy he's moved on, that his light will always shine even when he's in the dark because once he was her light.

Your light will shine though you may be in darkness.

I think it's about being in a relationship with someone and your in love with them but then they just leave you. And you feel empty and lonely then you finally forget them "your light will shine though you may be in darkness" pretty much saying you wish them well but they're just a memory behind you
