Don't You Evah Lyrics

Bet you got it all planned, right
Bet you never worry, never even feel a fright
Bet you got it all planned, right
Never fit to worry, never even feel a fright

Single sleeps alone and I know you don't really mind
Five years by your side, so I know you really don't mind

But don't you nevah
Be down
I said don't evah
'Cause it's gonna keep him hanging around

Nevah
Be down
I said don't evah
Because it's gonna keep him hanging around

Bet you never think it's right
Bet you think you have to but it doesn't feel right
Bet you never think it feels right
Famous-sounding words make your head feel light

Petals getting picked with the love-yous and the love-you-nots
Five years going by, everyone is staying on their side

But don't you nevah
Be down
I said don't evah
'Cause it's gonna keep him hanging around

Nevah
Be down
I said don't evah
Because it's gonna keep him hanging around

But don't you nevah
Be down
I said don't evah
'Cause it's gonna keep him hanging around

Nevah
Be down
I said don't evah
Because it's gonna keep him hanging around

Five years going by, everyone is staying on their side

Five years going by, everyone is staying on their side

Bet you got it all planned, right
Bet you never worry, never even feel a fright
Bet you got it all planned, right
Never fit to worry, never even feel a fright

just my humble opinion, but i think this song is about someone not wanting to say "i love you" to someone else. evidenced in:

"Bet you got it all planned right Bet you never worry never even feel a fright Bet you got it all planned right Never fit to worry never even feel a fright."

he/she dont have to worry about getting hurt if he/she never admits that he/she's in love, or never says it.

"Single sleeps alone and I know you don't really mind Five years by your side so I know you really don't mind"

their partner knows that they don't really mind being in this relationship because they've been together for five years.

"Don't you never think it's right Bet you think you had to but it doesn't feel right Bet you never think it feels right Famous-sounding words make your head feel light"

the person is kinda confused as to why people say those "sweet nothings" to each other because the "famous-sounding" words, such as "i love you" still make their lover's/their own head feel light, even thought the words are said all the time.

"Petals getting picked with the love-yous and the love-you-nots"

because this aloof individual never says "i love you," their partner is always wondering whether or not he/she actually DOES love them.

i dont know. just off the top. enlighten me.

This song perfectly describes a relationship between 2 friends of mine.

See, the girl has been seeing this guy for like 4 years now, and they had planned to stay together forever (Bet you had it all planned, right), but lately their relationship isn't what it used to be, because he's treating her like garbage now which completely destroys her self-confidence.

Because her believe in herself as dropped to point zero, she doesn't have the guts to break up with him (Don't You Evah feel down, I said don't evah, Because it's gonna keep him hanging around). Also, she has told me many times now that being around him just doesn't feel right anymore (Bet you think you have to but it doesn't feel right).

It just describes her situation perfectly.

lol i like the intro, when he keeps telling Jim to "record that"

This song is so tight and catchy, it's almost impossible to focus on the lyrics. The words are just another detail, like the hand claps, the tam, the cascading drum beat, the subtle reverb, the tweaky guitars...and that fat ass bass. If forced to sum it all up in two words?....sex and mystery.

3 people involved. The couple in a comfortable, passionless (but not necessarily loveless) relationship ..but then there is the soulmate waiting patiently...

@sugarwater01 That’s a easy one. Passion, please and thank you.

There's this part in the begining:

"I told you I can't make this play" "Jim, can you record the talk back?" "Record that Jim" "THAT!" "There! Yeah! Jim" "Yeah, that's it" "Jim record that" "Jim, could you record the talk back?" "Beeeeruuu......beeerrruuuu"

Man, if I was Jim I'd be like "STFU!!!! I done heard you tell me the first time!"

I disagree slightly with the other posts.

I think the narrator is friends with this girl who he knows isn't in love with her boyfriend of five years. The whole time she's been with this guy, all her friends have been "staying on their side," not saying anything even though they know she's not fulfilled.

The narrator is trying to get her to think twice about her long term plans for the relationship, since he sees that she isn't really in love. He's saying she shouldn't blindly follow the path she's on.

Referring to her future plans with her boyfriend, like marriage.

The narrator knows she's not afraid of being single or lonely because the narrator has been close to her for five years and thinks he knows her well (or maybe because she's been cheating on her boyfriend with him that whole time and doesn't seem to value her relationship for that reason).

I think he means she shouldn't just go through the motions because her boyfriend says he loves her, as evinced by:
