The Letter Lyrics
I sit by my window
With everything I've done
Doors that I've opened
The webs that I've spun
And the candle beside me
burns to the left
and the rain on the clay
sends the lizard to it's nest
There will be a time
when i'll hold you again
With my arms spread out
On my chest you will rest
And I'll write you a letter
With everything I know
About the weight of the world
And the way things could go
So live up my friend
Step back again
For somethings will be given
For some you'll have to bend
You have to bend my friend
To hold on to this
For some things will come easy
And some will be a test
(You have to bend)
Now the ocean connects me
To everything I know
By mellowing my mind
So my heart, it can call
With these trees as my witness
I'll slice up some fruit
And each to their peacefull
Good intentions and truth
There will be a time
when I will hold you again
With my arms spread out
I will dive right in
So now here is your letter
With everything I know
About the weight of the world
And the way things could go
So give up my friend
Step back again
For somethings will be given
For some you'll have to bend
You have to bend my friend
To hold on to this
For somethings will come easy
And some will be a test
You have to bend)
Now the ocean connects me
To everything I know
By mellowing my mind
So my heart, it can call
With these trees as my witness

Suprised this doesn't have any comments, it's my favourite song by X.R.!
I'm not 100% on what it means, I think it's about him contemplating how things change, and being unsure about him and his girl. Maybe he's trying to show her that you need to hold tight onto what you know. I dunno.
my favorite song by Xavier. With my favorite line. "Now the ocean connects me To everything I know By mellowing my mind So my heart, it can call"
Its about the "weight of the world and the way things could go" and you have to bend your rules a little bit to hold on to this. When he is saying "this" he is referring to the love that he shares with someone.
I think it's about a breakup he had with someone. At the beginning, he's contemplating what went wrong. Then he's hoping to get the person back by writing a letter about "the way things could go." Ultimately he wants the person back, to hold them again.
Great song.
