Godzilla Flick Lyrics

This isn't no Godzilla flick
This isn't no Godzilla flick
People that you love
Are never going to say hello again
And it's only in the movies

This isn't no Godzilla flick
This isn't no Clint Eastwood flick
People that you love
Shouldn't take the life out of themselves
And it's only in the movies

This isn't no Godzilla flick
This isn't no Godzilla flick
This isn't no Godzilla flick
And no, this time I think it's really it
And it's only in the movies

I've heard this was about someone who was hooked on drugs. I love the sonic boom that interrupts the ending. I listened to that part over and over again.

i think it's about losing dear people to suicide. "People that you love shouldn't take the life out of themselves". i think the lines go describing people's adaption to the loss. "People that you love are never going to say hello again" is finding out your friend has killed themselves. and realizing that they're gone forever. "People shouldn't ... themselves" is being really shaken by the whole thing and being angry and not even believing that anyone would actively WANT to not be alive. "And no this time i think it's really it" is about acceptance. of having thought enough about it and saying "you know. that's it. this time they're really gone. all the times they almost died, i could almost feel like they would survive. but they didn't and now they're gone. i couldn't do anything about it. and i get to be alive and they don't". i'm not sure but i think "and it's only in the movies" could be interpreted as only in the movies there's gonna be a touching piano playing in the background. in the movies they're gonna survive. in the movies there's a happy ending. it's real life and it actually happened. and there's no ending. it's all bleak and indifferent to me. i'm only not sure what Clint Eastwood flick and Godzilla flick mean. i'm more confused about the Clint Eastwood part (but i know approximately nothing about Clint Eastwood so maybe there's a connection). what's a Godzilla flick anyway?
