In the Wilderness

Absoltely love the riffs and relentless and genius pounding drumming in the last 3 minutes of the song, really hammers home the message of the song.

In this song our storyteller lands on a new a new planet (world). Here he sees the full potential of what nature has done without us and how we have repressed it. He makes a commitment that he will change his ways and learn to respect nature.

"On my way To the vision-come-true I enter a galaxy rising And I land on this Brown and green old place Whose wild is giant trees"

This is the place the higher powers spoke of in the other songs (if I remember the concept correctly) 'galaxy rising' I'd say means this is a new beginning. The planet is described as covered in vegetation and foliage and has an ancient nature.

"Trees so strong That they never can fall Four suns alight In silver grey sky Wild river flows With rage alive Lions of fire approach me"

Descriptions like this give me shivers,, the traveler who is very powerful and his technology/culture and ideas very advanced. He's overwhelmed by the might of his surroundings. Mountainous trees and intimidating rivers define the landscape. 'Lions of fire approach me' I'd guess he's describing the wild animals there. Saying they look intimidating/powerful.

"Carved by the wind And the fall of water From the treetops I can see the end of a time"

The place is old. And in his overlook in the treetops (probably didn't climb one literally but it's a beautiful way to paint a picture of his view of this world :P) he sees that this is the way to live. No longer will he heed to the corruption of human (or Earths) ways.

"Living respectful Low your axe And learn from the trees"

The old times are over. Now begins a new age of understanding and respect for the environment.

"Second dawn Meet the sylvanlings Passageways into the deep Invitations to explore the forest Lions gales and chambers"

The day after he meets the planets residents, they live below or out of sight. They greet him and offer to show him their world.

He's going to stay here. He knows earth is on it's path to destruction. Yet he fears this new world will with time fall to similar fate.
