i just HAD to add these lyrics. this song is amazing. kate's voice is crazy & totally expressive. This kind of song & this kind of artist make me believe in the revival of good music among all the junk coming out, lately.

I love how her songs are so relatable. It actually does sound like he "has a hold on" her. I like the subtle backup vocals. The way she sings it, her voice expresses exactly what she's saying. She sounds like she's getting weaker in the knees, and he's racing through her veins.
"I'll be thinking that evening when there's nothing for me to do "I'll be wondering if by some slim chance you've been wondering too" Most people have at one point in their life felt like this, and wondered the same thing.
Without looking for some kind of hidden meaning, I think it's just about liking someone and hoping they like you back.
I think she's just realizing her feelings, because she' saying "lately." She's no longer inbetween or trying to figure out her feelings, she knows exactly what she wants.
She might have "to confess just where" she stands, because she can't seem to keep them in anymore. She also thinks he could like her back, but she has to make sure to "Stand above the rest," because she wants to make sure she's the only one in his eyes.
I agree with angill973, it's about someone she likes and she thinks she might like her back, but she's not sure if she's good enough for him.
