I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You Lyrics

I drink a coffee every morning,
It comes from a place that's far away.
And when I'm done, I feel like talking.
Without you here, there is less to say.

I don't want you thinking I'm unhappy,
What is closer to the truth?
As if I lived 'til I was one-hundred and two.
I just don't think I'll ever get over you.

I'm no longer moved to drink strong whiskey.
I shook the hand that time and I knew,
That if I lived 'til I could no longer climb my stairs,
I just don't think I'll ever get over you.

Your face, it dances
And it haunts me.
Your laughter, still ringing
In my ears.
I still find pieces of your presence here.
Even, even after all these years.

I don't want you thinking I don't get asked to dinner,
'Cause I am here to say that I sometimes do.
And even though I may soon feel a touch of love,
I just don't think I'll ever get over you.

And if I lived 'til I was one-hundred and two,
I just don't think I'll ever get over you.

Obviously about a girl he's still in love with, and just can't get over. I'm in that situation, I'm still in love with a guy I broke up with three years ago. I've had a few chances at a "touch of love" but I just can't get over him.

I love Bryce, he is so talented.

Oh well, Colin Hay did a great job writing it, and I like Bryce's version of it.

This song is definitly about him still being in love with a girl. But he doesn't want her thinking he's hung up on her.

Line - "I don't want you thinking I don't get asked to dinner, 'Cause I am here to say that I sometimes do."

At the same time tho he still wants her to know that he still loves and cares about her, and always will. It seems like the girl could have been his first love. You never get over your first love, you'll always have a place for them in your heart.

I actually agree with nattylove614 - I think this song is about the loss of a loved one to death. The specific parts of the song that lead me to this belief are the mention of her face "haunting" him, the fact that it's been more than a couple years, and the fact that he never once mentions her living, him seeing her, her having a new man, etc. It appears she is only a memory.
