Bad Sun Lyrics

We are liars like the summertime
Like the spring we are such fools
Like fall we are false prophets
Like winter we are cruel

I don't know what's wrong with us
They just made us this way
There's a hole in you and me
That pulls us together

And I don't know where we belong
I think we grew under a bad sun
I know we're not like everyone
You and me we grew, under a bad sun

Every day you bring me pain
And we savor it like rain
We hold it on our tongues
Just like wine

Someday back when we were young
I guess something just went wrong
The two of us are hung
From the same twisted rope

And I don't know where we belong
I think we grew under a bad sun
I know we're not like everyone
You and me we grew under a bad sun

And I don't know where we belong
I think we grew under a bad sun
I know we're not like everyone
You and me we grew under a bad sun

You and me we grew under a bad sun

You and me we grew under a bad sun

Lyrically this song is genious.

Forget the Sun version, the Moon version of this song blows everything else on both albums away.

One of my favorite Bravery songs along with The Spectator and Swollen Summer.

Yeah, probably the last time I try and submit lyrics. >_<

I think the songs about a twisted type of unity. Maybe between a boyfriend and girlfriend, or even brother and sister. The 2 people are so different and out of place, that it brings them together. Their messed up childhoods were the root of this differentness. The "Bad Sun" that they grew under, is in relation to plants. A healthy dose of sun, will make a plant blossom into something beutiful. But under a bad sun, the plants are odd. Which goes back to what I stated above.

Eh, that's my interpretation of it.

I think the beginning should be:

we are liars like the summertime like the spring we are such fools like fall we are false prophets and like winter we are cruel

“The two of us are hung from the same twisted rope” That line always sends a chill down my spine.

sounds like the bravery went shins-esque this song was destined for a greater response but maybe not enough time was given to it because it sounds like everything else is sam saying that they are like flowers? growing under a bad sun? or parent?

went to the bravery show at pops in good 'ol stl, and before this song played endicott said that there was this girl that he was in love with that went back and forth between him and this other guy at least three or four times, only to marry the other guy leaving him heartbroken. when endicott asked the girl what the hell happened she just said that the other guy was the only guy that could understand her because he was 'as fucked up as her.' thus, the result of this song :)

fucking amazing concert, by the way!

the sun version is better IMO, Moon version ditches the bouncy Rhodes keys with schreeching synths accompanied with the lap steel and sounds drastically different....

This is definitely the best song on this album. And by that, I mean the original album and not the Moon album.

this song sounds like me and my b/f, cuz both of us are kinda outcasts and can't be easily categorized with the rest of the crowd. and there are messed-up parts of us that are similar... like, we're both missing something, which only strengthens the bond.

so, this song is about two people who have had difficult lives, and being with each other eases their sufferings... they have a relationship and... they are grateful for their misfortunes, which brought them together... I wanted to add 'under a bad sun'. xD but I don't know if that would make sense.

Anyways, love this song!!
