It has to be about the worst drug trip. In the first verse he is tripping and just staring at the TV, doing nothing productive. In the second, he is tripping while driving to work. Both would not be very enjoyable haha.

This is the song that first got me into this band. I was flipping through channels randomly and caught them on Conan. I had to stop and watch because I'm always interested when a band uses Conan's horn section for back-up. Boy am I glad I did.
There's an obvious lyrical debt here...to The Beach Boys. Remember Sloop John B? "This is the worst trip I've ever been on..."
