The Divine Falsehood Lyrics

I stood in the sand from the mouth of the sea
And watched a serpent rise from its depths
Upon his horns rested ten crowns
As the discord of trumpets grew unnerving
Its perception giving an overruling mentality of authority and supremacy
All dwellers of earth shall pray and worship this image of this deceitful demon
Whose names are not written in the ink or blood in the book of the life of the lamb
Shall be slain from the foundation of this declining and now decaying world

actually, Genesis is a concept album about the VariChip, which is a new chip that the government wants to implant in us all so that it's easier to keep track of everyone. The song is talking about both the apocalypse and how the band hates the idea of being constantly watched by the government.

Zaccormon is right, if you read Revelations 13, it's very clear. v1. "And i saw a beast coming out of the sea, he had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns." v4. "Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast.." v8. "All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast- all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain.."

exactly right..i have read revelations a number of times..

...yes i am a christian and a metal head..

well its pretty obvious about what this song is about.

actually, i was having a look in the bible the other day, and a lot of these phrases are in the book of revelations, specifically (chapter?) 13 (sorry i don't read the bible). Cool song though. Way different from the other songs on Genisis

PuppyButcher is right, this one is quite different to the rest of the songs on the album. Its more like doom metal, than straight up death.

Does anyone know what he is saying between "All dwellers of earth shall pray and worship..." and "demon whose names..,"?

It sounds something like "...worship the image of this decietful demon..."

That line is actually "All dwellers of earth shall pray and worship this form of a single demon whose names..."

yes yes metal is life nailed it right on.

and guiffporn is right, this is a doom metal song.

the serpent is the government. the 'perception...overruling mentality' part is metaphorical, representing the feelings that humans will get when they are chipped. the 'demon' is the government.
