its like about this guy who is losing a lot of friends but he's with someone that makes him not care about it.
and when anyone says "i think i'll take the long way home" they mean they want to be away for a while and just take a little bit longer to get home.
i love this song its very laid back and mellow. by the sound of the music i think the songs means he's with someone he really loves being with now so he really doesn't care about anything else.
right. when people fall in love, they tend to lose touch of those around them. he's just noticing it now.

I love these guys... this is a great song. And its sooo true when you find someone your in love with.. someone who makes you think nothing less than being with them. You tend to only want to be with them. spend time with them. think about them.. that yeah you lose track of what was always around you... because this new thing is so intense and so incredible... that nothing else matters.
wow I totally agree with the whole relationship thing it does seem like that when ppl date they lose track of their friends. so if you look at this song like that its a very sad song. ♥MAH
My friend Eric wrote this song and gave it to them. the line "i suggest i straighten up and get out straighten up and get out, yeah" was written because he was really really high and a cop car pulled up next to him and he was hunched over the stearing wheel and said that.
I actually see it as two people who are so damaged that they don't want to love anymore. Which is why they'll stay floating while their friends will drown because "with all that love, their hearts will sink"
